With all the upsetting information about viruses creeping into the global internet, could it be that some of the annoying ingredient has invaded the bowling capability of the local Casey keglers? If such isn't the case, how do we account for the sudden disappearance of their pin-spilling ability, the rock-em-sock-em thunder that was so much a part of their every outing, just a few weeks ago? Loyal fans are confident that the coming weeks will see a revival of the kind of wood-walloping that has always been the Floral Park trademark and Ye Writer is, definitely, among that group.
Pat Murphy grabbed the brass ring, in the hotshot Merry-go-Round as he cranked out a beauty of a 637 series, built on games of 220 and 233 while Jim Kearney was using a 216 solo to card a 599 "almost" set. Tom Moore sizzled to a 589, tossing a 203 and a 213 on the way while Mike Gallagher trailed, at 559, with a 200 single put on the books and Paul Simonetti was in the running with a 213 solo, 541 trio. John Fittipaldi crowded Paul with a solid 540 and Chet Strzepek chimed in with a 518. A Rich Lahey 201 loner led to a 514 count and, filing out the Star List for the evening, was Vinny Sheehan, with games of 224 and 203 for a two-game total of 427.
Team action saw the Pat Sweeney-led Marksmen shoot down Tom Moore's Medical Marvels, by a 5-2 score, while Eddy Hackimer was piloting his Little Guys to a 7-0 blanking of the We're Not Ready combine, bossed by Jack Price. In another rout, the What-a-Team outfit, captained by John O'Grady, whitewashed Capt. Bob Mashburn's Team Moss II four, via a 7-0 count and the Hurricanes, with Greg Simicich in the driver's seat, handed Mike Horan and his MP-JR crew a 5-2 setback. Turning out the lights and putting the key in the door, Mike's 4, with Frank Dehler at the helm, downed the Fathers and Sons crew, led by Fred Dorgler Sr. by a 5-2 count.
