In 1897, in Washington, DC an organization was created which was dedicated to serving children by promoting their interests at home, in school and in the community. That organization was the National PTA. The entire community is invited to celebrate the birthday of PTA with the Floral Park-Bellerose PTA, John Lewis Childs PTA and Floral Park Memorial PTSA on Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Floral Park Memorial High School cafeteria.

Past presidents from all three PTA units will be invited back to honor their achievements and to thank them for their service to the youth of our community. A short candle lighting ceremony will be followed by a humorous presentation by John Egan of Egan's Corner of Manor Fruit Shack. This will be a repeat performance by John who was the guest speaker at the 1988 Founders Day celebration.
