In an attempt to save at least a portion of the money that has been cut from human services in the county budget, the Human Services Coalition has scheduled a rally on the steps of the County Executive Building at 1 West Street in Mineola at noon on Wednesday, Jan. 19 and are asking as many people who can to come out and support this effort to return funding to agencies which are served by the Nassau County Youth Board, the Department of Drug and Alcohol Addiction and the Mental Health and Welfare Council. Despite all the "hoopla" about the New Millennium and expected computer glitches, the legs, arms, and eyes of the Floral Park Knights of Columbus bowlers continued to function in the usual Council 2345 fashion, toppling the Sterling Lane Lumber as if the year was still in the "Old Millennium." The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship was conducted at John Lewis Childs on Jan. 8. The students who were shooting that day were the winners from the four district schools where over 1,100 students entered the competition. The four schools were Floral Park Bellerose, Floral Park Memorial, John Lewis Childs and Our Lady of Victory. FULL STORY
