Could it be that "holiday fever" has caused the pin-spilling prowess of the Floral Park Knights of Columbus bowlers to dissipate in so noticeable a fashion? Their final tussle, with the Sterling Lanes timber, in this millennium, didn't have the zip - the brimstone and fire - that they exhibited every time they laced up their bowling shoes, on previous nights of this much notable season.
Paul Simonetti led The Hotshot Parade, with a 588 series that included a 206 solo effort while Mike Gallagher grabbed second honors, chiming in with a solid 562, a whisker up on Eddy Hackimer's 223 game, 561 set. A Jack Price 235 solo beauty led to a 548 total; Bob Sheehan used a 199 "almost" to card a 530 and Eddy Goodloe crowded Bob with a 201 loner, 529 count. Chet Strzepek showed a 522 for his night's work; Bob Mashburn downed 516 sticks and "Knobby" Gregory was dogging Bob's heels with a 515 series. Greg Simicich squeezed into The Elite group, rolling a 501 while Vinny Sheehan and Jim Kearney did a "brother" act, at 500, to squeeze onto the Elite List.
In team action, Jack Price led his We're Not Ready four to a 5-2 win over the MP-JR aggregation, while John O'Grady and his Whattateam crew was doing a 6-1 number on the Medical marvels, minus captain Tom Moore. Bob Mashburn piloted his Team Moss 2 outfit to a 5-2 win over the Little Guys, bossed by Eddy Hackimer and The Hurricanes with Greg Simicich calling signals, handed Frank Dehler and his Mike's 4 a 5-2 set-back. Ending the night's "Brotherly Bombardment," the fathers and sons outfit, with Fred Dorgler in the driver's seat, shot down the Pat Sweeney-led Marksmen, in a 5-2 battle.
