Just when you think you've seen everything they can do on the shiny lanes, the local keglers make you open your eyes a bit wider as they scale the heights once thought unreachable. This season is in its infancy and, already, the Casey Cannonaders have lambasted the lumber in a manner that speaks of mid-season form -- at least! -- promising "more of the same" as weeks go by.

Bob Mashburn grabbed The Brass Ring in The Hotshot "Merry-go-Round" with a sizzling 652 set built on 2o2,231 and 219 nifties, while "Knobby" Gregory was pounding out a 618 set that had a 255 beauty in its makeup. Chet Strzepek hit the "Strzepek Stride," cranking out games of 200 and 218, leading to a fine 612, narrowly edging Greg Simicich's 611 that showed a 225 loner and Fred Dorgler, Sr.'s 607 total with 219 and 213 games doing the trick. Mike Derby's 233 and 211 single efforts gave him a fine 594, a step up on Paul Simonetti's 256 single, 589 triple and Jim Kearney's 587 trio, 220 solo. Tommy Moore spilled 213 and 204 pins in his showing, putting a 569 on the books with Jack Price trailing, at 561, with a 213 solo tossed in and Frank Dehler made noise with a solid 550. John Fittipaldi downed 541 sticks, a bit up on Mike Gallagher's 203 solo, 535 trio while Joe Silvestri was carding a 523. Paul Mastronardi chimed in with a 520 and Rich Lahey had his face pressed to the Hotshot Window, with a 199 "almost."

Team action saw The Marksman, with Pat Sweeney as Top Sharpshooter, do a 5-2 number on the Tommy Moore-led Medical Marvels while Jack Price was leading his We're Not Ready crew to a 5-2 victory over Mike's Four, with Frank Dehler calling signals. Team Moss 2, bossed by Bob Mashburn, took John O'Grady's Whatateam into camp, in a 5-2 set-to and the MP-Jr crew, with Mike Honan in the driver's seat, downed Eddy Hackimer's Little Guys by a 5-2 count. Winding up the night's "Brotherly Bombardment," the Hurricanes, with Greg Simicich at the helm, blew the Fred Dorgler, Sr.-led Fathers and Sons crew out of the water, via a 5-2 count.
