That noise you heard, last Thursday evening, wasn't thunder -- it was the Floral Park Knights of Columbus bowlers scattering the Sterling Lane's lumber, with the usual Council 2345 sharpness and ferocity. In the early weeks of the new season, it is easy to see that the local keglers have found their new home to their liking, as evidenced by the manner in which they have been putting numbers on the board -- numbers that promise another banner year.

Last Thursday's King of the Hill, in The Hotshot Department, was Eddy Hackimer, who tossed games of 219 and 215 for a beauty of a 605 set, a whisker up on Bob Mashburn's 600 series that showed a 222 in its make-up, with Frank Dehler trailing them, at 589, built on a 228 nifty one-gamer. Jack Price's 242 solo gave him a 572 trio while Rich Lahey was tossing 202 and 205 loners on the way to a 564 set and Joe Silvestri made noise with a 219 single, 559 triple. Jim Kearney spilled 558 hunks of lumber, a step up on "Knobby" Gregory's 556, with a 199 "almost" tossed in and Pat Sweeney used a 214 game to post a 547, while John Fittipaldi trailed, at 543 with a 201 loner. Mike Honan showed a solid 525 for, his night's work, John O'Grady downed 520 sticks, 209 in one outing and Pat Murphy put a 517 on the books. Eddy Goodloe cranked out a 506 and Chet Strzepek was the caboose on the Star Train, with a 504.

Team action saw Pat Murphy pilot his WHATATEAM four to a 7-0 whitewash of the Fathers and Sons, bossed by Fred Dorgler, Sr. while Eddy Hackimer's Little Guys were doing a 5-2 number on the Team Moss 2 gang, with Bob Mashburn in the driver's seat. The Mike Honan led MP-JR quartet downed the We're Not Ready combine, captained by Jack Price via a 5-2 score while The Hurricanes, with Greg Simicich calling signals, blanked The Medical Marvels, minus absent Captain Tommy Moore, in a 7-0 encounter. Ending the night's "Brotherly Bombardment," the Frank Dehler-led Mike's Four took the measure of Pat Sweeney and his Marksmen by a 5-2 edge.
