In my best grammar, I must report that the Knights of Columbus bowlers "did like always," as they pummeled the pins in the usual Council 2345 fashion, last Thursday, at their new home -- the Sterling Lanes.
Paul Simonetti was King of the Hill in the Hotshot Department, carding a beauty of a 603 set, with a 238 solo tossed in, while Frank Dehler was making noise with a 598 trio that had 203 and 205 solos in its make-up. A Jack Price 219 solo led to a 578 trio, while Pat Murphy's 576 included a nifty 217 game, a whisker up on Bob Mashburn's 208 single, 575 triple and Bob Sheehan was crowding them with a 570 that included 202 and 203 solos. Chet Strzepek got into the act with a 204 single, 565 triple and John Fittibaldi dogged Chet's heels, with a 220 solo that led to a 562 set. Greg Simicich's 203 loner led to a 552 total, followed by Rich Lahey's 207 game, 533 set and a Jim Kearney 522. Fred Dorgler used a 205 solo to post a 518 trio and John Luger, fresh from his European sojourn, banged out a 209 on way to a 503 total. Joe Silvestri's 213 loner gave him a 502 set and Charley Bingold used a 203 loner to put a 499 "almost" on the books.
Team Action saw The Whatateam, bossed by Pat Murphy, do a 7-0 number on Pat Sweeney's No. 3 aggregation, while Mike Honan was leading his No. 5 crew to a 4-3 nailbiter over Fred Dorgler and his No. 10s. Mike's Four, with Frank Dehler in the driver's seat, bowed to the Eddy Hackimer-led Little Guys in a 5-2 battle while The Medical Marvels, minus big-gun Tommy Moore, took a 7-0 pasting from Bob Mashburn's Team Moss #2. Ending the Columbian Cannonading, for the evening, The Hurricanes, led by Greg Simicich, eked past the We're Not Ready bunch, captained by Jack Price, in a 4-3 squeaker.
