James F. Yochum, governor of the New York District of Kiwanis International, presided over the 82nd Annual District Kiwanis Convention held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Buffalo. Elections for New York District Kiwanis Governor and Governor-Elect were held in the Regency Ballroom Saturday, Aug. 21.
Joseph C. Eppolito of Liverpool was elected Kiwanis Governor for the year 1999-2000 and John A. Gridley of Floral Park was elected Kiwanis Governor-Elect for the year 1999-2000.
John Gridley is known statewide for his 20 years of outstanding and dedicated service to Kiwanis on all levels. Gridley has been a Kiwanian since 1979 and served the Kiwanis Club of Floral Park, as their president from 1983-1985. Gridley also is a former member of the Floral Park Volunteer Fire Department and Captain of the Hook and Ladder Company. Gridley begins his term as Governor-Elect Oct. 1.
