Just a reminder that submissions for the Town of Hempstead's Year 2000 calendar photo contest are now being accepted. In fact, the summer season offers tremendous photographic opportunities as area residents enjoy our 32 pool complexes and beautiful ocean beaches. The waters surrounding Hempstead Town are also a favorite venue for the use of power and sailing vessels, as well as for fishing.

The photo contest is open to all Town of Hempstead residents, and the deadline for entries is Sept. 15. Only black & white or color photographs will be accepted, not transparencies, slides or color copies. All photos must be accompanied by a descriptive sentence indicating the subject matter, the exact location within the Town of Hempstead where the photo was taken, the approximate date the photo was taken, and the names of any individuals in the photo. The photographer's name, address and phone number must also be included.

After all timely entries have been accepted, photos that are best indicative of life in our township will be chosen to represent each month (i.e. snow scenes in winter months, flowers in spring, swimming in summer, etc.), and a few random photos may be selected for placement within the informational calendar pages.
