The US Small Business Administration (SBA) recently named Floral Park resident Phyllis Hill Slater New York District Women In Business Advocate of the Year. Hill Slater, president of Hill Slater Inc., was recognized for outstanding advocacy of women's business issues locally, nationally and internationally.
Hill Slater, a second-generation business owner, has been serving the engineering and architectural community for nearly three decades. She is a business advocate and leader, whose wide-ranging efforts have been recognized by individuals and organizations throughout the nation.
She is a member of the board of directors and chair of the small business council of the Long Island Association as well as being one of the founders and past president of the National Association of Women Business Owners Long Island. She is a former national president of the National Association of Women Business Owners.
Locally, Hill Slater provides leadership to various Long Island organizations, serving on the board of directors of the Institute for Community Development, the Long Island Museum of Science and Technology and the Town of Hempstead Women & Minority Revolving Loan program. Additionally, she acts as a trustee for five of Long Island's major non-profit organizations: North Shore University Hospital, SUNY Stony Brook University Foundation, SUNY Old Westbury University Foundation and WLIW Channel 21, Public Broadcasting Television.
