The Floral Park Knights of Columbus bowlers lost little momentum as they attacked the Bellerose Lumber on the last night of the most productive season ever recorded in the more than a half century-old loop. Bob Mashburn took Top Hotshot honors, as he used a 248 solo to post a beauty of a 625 series, while Bob Fiorillo was putting a 215 game, 582 set on the books. Jim Kearney, with a 581 total that showed a pair of 204 singles, took the third slot, a step up on Mike Gallagher and Eddy Hackimer, who were locked at 574, with Mike tossing a 204 and Eddy a 217 solo. On the way Tommy Moore showed a 199 "almost" in his 571 count. Jack Price spilled 562 sticks, 201 in one outing and a Joe Oswald 216 loner led to a 547 total. Tony Moreno had a solid 542, a step up on Mike Derby's 537 and Chet Strzepek's 536 included a 213 one-gamer. Mike Honan banged out a 533, edging a 527 scored by Pat Murphy and Joe Silvestri was there with a 525 count. Paul Simonetti's 524 was a step up on Joe Cirigliano's 516, while Greg Simicich trailed him at 512. Rich Lahey showed a 508 for his efforts and Bob Sheehan was the tail-ender on The Star List with a 501. Franz Dehler made honorable mention with a 199 "almost."

The '98-'99 Champions¬Starr Reporters, captained by Pat Sweeney, ended their successful season with a 5-2 win over Eddy Hackimer's Dead Wood combine, while the BOSS crew was eking out a 4-3 nail-biter win over John O'Grady and his Regals. Eddy Goodloe piloted his Goodo's 4 to a 4-3 victory over Mike Honan's Mr. C.P. quartet, while Tommy Moore and his Pallbearers were pallbearing the Joe Oswald-led Lugerites to a 7-0 shutout. The GoodGuys, with Bob Mashburn calling signals, did a 7-0 number on the Pat Murphy-led Whaco 2 aggregation, to end the "Columbian Cannonading" for the night and the year.

The Bowling Dinner is scheduled for Friday evening, June 11, to be held at the Council Quarters where many a tall story will be told of the happenings that took place in the colorful season that now has come to an end.
