That rumbling you heard last Thursday wasn't the beginning of a winter storm. It was the Floral Park Knights taking Bellerose Lanes apart, lock, stock, and barrel as they pounded the wood with a "take-no-prisoners" attack that saw averages soar once again.

Paul Simonetti led the parade of hotshots, rolling 224 and 257 beauties to card a great 654 set, with just one pin separating him from teammate Chet Strzepek's 653 masterpiece, built on games of 202, 245 and 206. Tommy Moore dogged their heels, banging out 230 and 233 solos on the way to a 643 trio, a few steps up to Joe Silvestri's 233 loner, 604 three-gamer and Jack Price got in the act with a 201 and a 215 that led to a 594 total. Rich Lahey's 220 single gave him a 554 count, Cliff Weinberg dumped 544 sticks, 214 in one outing, tying him at 544 with Jim Kearney and his 211 loner, as Bob Mashburn used a 223 solo to post a 541 trio. Mike Derby's 235 single led to a 534 triple, Mike Gallagher had a solid 531 and Bob Sheehan's 526 total included a 210 one-gamer. "Knobby" Gregory's 521 nosed out a Frank Dehler 511 and Eddy Hackimer had a 500 for his night's work. Richie Biggins' 204 lone effort helped him make the elites.

Team action saw the Lugerites, bossed by Joe Oswald, take a 7-0 whitewashing from the BOSS four, minus captain John Bartow, while Tommy Moore was leading his Pallbearers to a 5-2 win over the Starr Reporters with Pat Sweeney calling signals. The Dead Wood combine, led by Ed Hackimer, did a 5-2 number on Eddy Goodloe's Goodo's Four and the Mr. CP unit, with Mike Honan in the driver's seat, handed Pat Murphy and his Whaco 2 outfit a 5-2 setback. ending the night's action the Bob Mashburn-led Good Guys downed John O'Grady and his Regals by a 5-2 score.
