The recent cold spell must have seeped into the Bellerose Lanes, cooling off the hot Floral Park Knights of Columbus bowlers, who, week after week, were punishing the pins in what could only be described as "Council 2345" fashion. Nevertheless, those in the know predict that, for the remaining 11 weeks of the season, we will witness a return to the "wood walloping" that is the trademark of the local Caseys.

Chet Strzepek, once again, wore the crown of "Top Hotshot", as he scorched the lanes with games of 234 and 225 that led to a beauty of a 637 set with Bob Mashburn grabbing the second slot, tossing a 221 single on his way to a 565 triple. Eddy Hackimer posted a solid 544, a couple of steps up on a Tommy Moore 203 solo, 523 trio while Joe Oswald and Jim Kearney breasted the tape hand-in-hand, at 522. John Luger's 202 solo gave him a 520 trio, edging Paul Simonetti's 517 set built on a 200 one-gamer and Richie Fitzmaurice got into the act, using a 202 loner to card a 504 series. Bob Lahey turned the lights out and put the key in the door with a 204 solo effort.

Team action saw the Ted Nowacki-led Whacos blank the Dot Heads, with Jimmy O'Neill at the helm, via a 7-0 count while Paul Simonetti was piloting his Team Moss crew to a 5-2 victory over Pat Murphy's Standing Pat four. The Gloms, with Eddy Goodloe calling signals, eked out a 4-3 win over Pat Sweeney's Mailmen and the J-Crew, quarterbacked by Jim Kearney, lost a 6-1 nod to "Knobby" Gregory's Saints. Ending the night's action, Joe Oswald and his Shumstetters whitewashed the Team Three combine, via a 7-0 count.
