Slowly but surely the Floral Park Knights of Columbus bowlers are scaling the heights to the pin-spilling level of which they know they are capable. The uncharacteristic letdown of a few weeks past has been completely forgotten as the local Caseys attack the lumber in true Council 2345 fashion, putting up the numbers they know their efforts can and will produce.
"Knobby" Gregory grabbed the brass ring in the hotshot merry-go-round, rolling a 217 solo, 590 trio as Richie Biggins, pitching a solid 548 took second honors. Paul Simonetti's 239 single beauty led to a 543 triple, a step up on Bob Sheehan's 533 total that included a 215 loner. Chet Strzepek's solid 529 nosed out a Tommy Moore 527 and John Bartow's 526. Mike Gallagher banged out a 212 single to post a 515 three-gamer, edging John Luger's 511 and Mike Derby was the hotshot tailender with a 506 set that had a 199 "almost" in its makeup.
Team action saw the three top teams take it "on the chin", tightening up the race as the Jimmy O'Neill-led Dot Heads downed Pat Murphy and his Standing Pat crew, via a 5-2 count, while Mike Viccora was piloting his Mailmen to a 5-2 win over Team THREE, quarterbacked by GK Oscar Grasser. Another 5-2 count saw Jim Kearney and his J-Crew topple the Whackos, with Ted Nowacki calling signals while Eddy Goodloe's Gloms were handing Joe Oswald and his Shumstetters a 5-2 setback. Completing the night's brotherly bombardment, Team Moss with Paul Simonetti handling the reins, did a 5-2 number on "Knobby" Gregory's Saints.
