A night out with the ladies is the perfect occasion to break out that new LBD, dance away the memories of your ex-boyfriend, or relieve the stress of a hectic work week with a salt on the rim margarita. But more than anything, it’s a time to bond and unwind with your favorite females. Whether you’re looking to get glammed up for a night on the town, get pampered with your posse, or keep it casual and low-key, Long Island has plenty of places for you to let loose with your girlfriends every day of the week.
69 Wall St., Huntington
What’s not to love about a place that combines chocolate and wine? The intimate, first floor restaurant is the perfect place to catch up with your friends over small plates, dinner (menu items include pan-seared duck breast, lobster ravioli and lamb and feta burgers) or dessert (such as the tri-colored mousse which will save you from having to decide white, milk or dark; or the chocolate fondue which comes with plenty of dipping items to go around). The upstairs lounge features live music every Friday from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 p.m. to midnight. Listen to some tunes while enjoying a chocolate martini by the bar, or grab a table by the fireplace and split a bottle of wine while you and your friends listen to live soul, jazz, blues or a variety of other music.
630 Old Country Rd., Garden City
While a trip to Havana might be out of the question, you and your friends can still experience the sizzle and energy of the city at this restaurant and bar. You’ll quickly forget you’re steps away from the Roosevelt Field Mall as the ambiance and rich, authentic flavors transport you to Cuba. The menu includes small plates, Cuban sandwiches, and plenty of other beef, pork, chicken and seafood options. And to accompany your dinner, peruse the extensive drink menu. Split a sangria pitcher (or two) or indulge in any of their other specialty cocktails such as a pomegranate mojito, partida margarita or the “Birds of Paradise.” There are happy hours throughout the day and every Wednesday is Teacher’s Night so you can celebrate hump day with $5 drinks and appetizers. Live music every weekend makes this place a Ladies Night must.
Viana Hotel and Spa
3998 Brush Hollow Rd., Westbury
Remember those slumber parties you had with your friends as a kid where you would talk about boys, eat junk food and experiment with makeup until the sun came up? Well, who said those had to stop just because you got older? The SpaJama Package at Viana Hotel and Spa puts a grown-up twist on sleepovers. Get pampered with a 50-minute signature facial or Swedish massage before heading off to Marco Polo’s restaurant for a round of cocktails. Then head off to your room and enjoy your choice of chick flick with some popcorn and candy. In the morning, you and your friends can enjoy a breakfast buffet and leave with a spa gift. Everything is included in the package, and prices vary based on the room.
Once Upon A Dish
659 Franklin Ave., Garden City
If you’re feeling crafty and want something to remember your evening by other than a bad hangover, Once Upon A Dish is the place for you. The pottery studio has Ladies Night every Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. for just $9, plus the cost of your piece. You and your friends each choose a piece, such as plates, wine glasses, picture frames, trays, jewelry boxes or a wide variety of other items and can spend the evening letting those creative juices flow as you paint and decorate it. Feel free to order in food or bring a bottle of wine or any other drinks, as well as any snacks and desserts. Items do have to be left at the studio so they can be fired in the kiln, but can be picked up later in the week.
361 Union Ave., Westbury
Say goodbye to your inhibitions and hello to the vibrant world of Latin dance at this studio. Live out your Dancing With the Stars dreams as you and your friends learn to salsa, bachata and merengue during group lessons, which are scheduled every day of the week. For those feeling a bit shy, the studio also offers private group lessons. On Friday and Sunday night, the party moves to the Winner’s Circle (39 Post Ave. in Westbury) where Rhythmology instructors lead dance classes from 8 to 8:30 p.m., followed by hours of free dance. On Friday, you and your friends can dance until the club shuts down at 4 a.m. and on Sundays, the DJ spins Latin and top 40 hits until 1 a.m.
