PAL Flag Football Recap

Week 2-Peanut 2: The Jets and Saints met at Woodward Parkway School on Sunday and had a great time.  For the Jets, Ryan Horan, Alex Darienzo and Jalen Gordon were standouts and for the Saints, Gus Scardina and Nick Viola had great plays on both sides of the ball.


Pee Wee 3: The Saints and Jets played a nail biter. The Saints came out on top winning 14-12 with the difference being a two-point conversion. The Saints offense came ready to play. A long touchdown pass from Aiden Gillen to Andrew Koukos put the Saints ahead late. Andrew Aldieri and Eamon McLoughlin had long runs and Andrew Koukos also ran for a touchdown. The defense was led by TJ Preiss who had 5 flags and Anthony Matheis who had a key interception.  The Jets were led on offense by two explosive long TD runs by Josh Behar. Jason Chung had several nice runs. On defense, Mike Connolly had a strong game snagging several flags and shutting down the receivers he was covering.  The Jets also got spirited efforts by Joe Walsh, Robert Trey Rowland, Luke Stephan, Gavin Vega and Christian Medrano.


The Redskins battled the Broncos. The offense played well with touchdowns by Patrick Murphy and Peter Fernandez. Great running from Tommy DeRespino, accurate throws from James Hammelman and Patrick Murphy and timely receptions from Brendan Gigante and Bryan Birki helped to keep the Redskins in the game.  Christian Mall had an outstanding day on defense.


Pee Wee 4: The Steelers defeated the Titans 42-19. The Steelers Shane Schwartz opened the scoring with a long touchdown run. The Titans drove to the Steelers 2 yard line but the Steel Curtain Defense held the Titans put of the end zone. Nicholas Napolitano followed with a long touchdown run off a double reverse. The Titans rallied with to straight scores to close to within 14-13. Right before half Nicholas DiSanti threw a touchdown to Napolitano. Kevin Piranio made a wonderful grab for the two-point conversation. 


Week 1: Opening Day

Farmingdale’s PAL Flag Football league kicked off its 10th season Sunday, Sept. 8 at Woodward Parkway Field.   Over the past decade, the league has grown to include more than 1,000 boys and girls competing from early morning to late Sunday night.  


Peanut 1: The Steelers opened their season firing on all cylinders. Dean Kott ran the opening play from scrimmage 80 yards for a TD and also caught 2 touchdown passes. Luke Begley threw a TD pass and ran for another while Katie Hecker added a long TD run of her own. Andrew Adamo, Luke Eschman amd Emma Savino all had nice runs for big gains. Marisa Karlsen and Hunter Kinhackl led the defense.


Peanut 2: The Saints and the Titans played a classic back and forth game.  The Hothersall/Adamo combination hooked up for multiple aerial connections for the Titans, while the Johnson/Kuller combo for the Saints had a huge pass conversion for a touchdown.  Jack Molloy had two great runs from scrimmage as well, both for touchdowns.  Most importantly, the kids all had a blast!


Pee Wee 4: The 4th grade Steelers opened their season with a 48-24 victory over the Giants. Shane Schwartz began the scoring with a long touchdown run. Nicholas Napolitano scored on a running play just before halftime. The Steelers defense was led by NIcholas Disanti and Nicholas Farnacci to keep the Giants off the scoreboard in the first half. In the second half the Steelers used long passes to Nick Nap, and Shane Schwartz to open up the game. The Giants responded each time with scores, highlighted by Ryan Millers long twisting trip thought the Steelers defense for a touchdown.  The Giants John Polus had several long runs and pulled several flags on defense.
