PAL Flag Football Report From October 28

PEE WEE 3—With Hurricane Sandy looming the Steelers and Titans battled under a dark sky. The Steelers opened the scoring with a long run by Nicholas Napolitano, followed by a two-point conversion by Miles McIntrye. Ian Innes turned a short pass into an 80-yard gallop down the sideline for a score. Jake Miller caught the two-point conversation. The Steel Curtain defense led by Nick DiSantis, Antonio Migliaccio, Kevin Piraino, Greg Gaudio and James Zanelotti kept the Titans off the scoreboard in the first half. The Titans responded in the second half with long plays from Joe Sciacca and his brother Paul to cut the Steelers lead. Christopher Kretschmer then scored on a long touchdown run and the lead was cut to 22-12. The Steelers scored on a long run and the game ended 28-12.

From Oct. 21, the Steelers defeated the Redskins 20-12 in a tight well-played game. The Steelers opened the scoring when Napolitano scored on a sweep. On their next possession Innes caught a short down and out pass and rumbled 80 yards for the score. Innes than did an end dance which will be talked about for weeks to come, Disanti dashed in for the two-point conversation to make the score 14-0. The Steeler defense, led by Piraino and Zanelotti was in full “steel curtain” mode and kept the Redskins out of the end zone for the first half. In the second half McIntyre took a short pass and turned it into a 79-yard adventure down the sideline, before being stopped at the one-foot line. On the next play Gaudio caught a touchdown pass to extend the lead to 20-0. The Redskins rallied and scored two touchdowns to close to the gap. Jack Agres scored on an 80-yard run, cutting back and forth across the field. The Redskins comeback ran out of time as a last second pass was picked off by Napolitano to end the game.

PEE WEE 4—The Titan finished their regular season games by defeating the Steelers 21-14 bringing their record to 6-2. It was a great team effort led by Daniel DeMartino, Brenden Moritz, Matthew Gaba, Jack Moloney, Tyler Carlow, Michael Melo, Adam Gordon, Chris Sperretta and Sam Cordova.
