The Daler Varsity Black roller hockey team, under the direction of coaches Jim Gunn, Pat Mc Donald, and Gabe Vitale are the only undefeated team in the Island wide High School Varsity Roller Hockey League. Their current first place record is 11-0 for 22 points. The Dalers have scored 76 times, and have given up 21 goals. They have nine games remaining in the regular season followed by playoffs.
Against their conference rivals, the Oceanside Sailors, Farmingdale was able to pull out the 4-3 win. Scoring first for the Dalers was Patrick McDonald assisted by Nick Vitale.
Then, Christian Letourneau put the puck behind the Oceanside goalie to tie the game at two. In the last period of play, Vitale set up John Gunn who put the puck in the net for the 3-2 lead. The Sailors tied it 3-3.
Michael Lasher scored off the feed by Gunn to seal the win. Goalie, Anthony Chille stopped 28 shots on net by the Sailors. The stars of the game for Farmingdale were Chille and Gunn.
The next opponent was the Patriots from Ward Melville. The Dalers dominated and won 10-3. Lasher led Farmingdale with five goals and two assists. Letourneau and Vitale produced two goals and one assist. All three were named stars of the game.
In a contest against the Wildcats from Wheatley, Farmingdale won by the score of 7-1. The stars of the game were Letourneau with three goals and one assist, Chille with a .941 save percentage, followed by Gunn with one goal and two assists.
Scott Dwyer produced a goal and an assist. Christopher Abel added to the offense by setting up two goals in this game.
Farmingdale picked up its eleventh straight victory against Mepham by the score of 9-1. For the Dalers, Lasher led with four goals and one assist. Vitale followed with a hat trick plus an assist. Chille produced another outstanding game in the net with a .955 save percentage. Gunn and Mike Kalista added to the score, each with a goal. Lasher, Vitale, and Chille were the stars of this game.
