I am proud to be part of the Farmingdale community. So many people pulled together to make the U.S. Open a success for Farmingdale. The Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce seized the opportunity provided by the U.S. Open to promote business in Farmingdale.
We produced 10,000 maps of Farmingdale with a discount keycard attached. We encouraged our members to offer a 10 percent discount on purchases or provide customers with a free gift. There are many people to thank who worked so hard to help the Farmingdale business community. Special thanks to County Executive Tom Suozzi and Legislator Dave Mejias for the multiple press conferences at Bethpage Park, Penn Station, the Village, and on radio at Croxley Ale House. I would especially like to thank Mayor Butch Starkie and the trustees of the Village of Farmingdale for all their tireless efforts to organize the trolley and special events that made the U.S. Open great for residents, merchants, and attendees. Thanks to Senator Kemp Hannon for providing the Chamber with grant funds to produce the map. Thank you to the MTA for allowing us to distribute the map at the Farmingdale train station and for linking the Chamber website to the LIRR website. Thanks also to Anton Community Newspapers for producing a special U.S. Open edition. Thanks to Long Island Planning Commissioner Patti Bourne and Cameron Engineering for providing the Chamber with a GIS map of the area. Thank you to Danny Sink from the USGA who saw to it that the maps were inserted in every volunteer packet. Thanks to Mary Lopuszynski, USGA Merchandise Tent Manager, for distributing the maps to her staff. Thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Poplarski for distributing our maps to over 200 caddies working at the U.S. Open. Thank you to the Farmingdale Public Library, Priestley Chiropractic and Sperry Credit Union for being a map distribution location. Thanks to Randi Brown and his staff from JFP Lithographers for designing and printing the maps. Special thanks to the Chamber board for all their help and support with special thanks to our administrative assistant, Jo Wider. Last but not least, I want to thank the Chamber members who supported our efforts and who always provide the best of service and quality to all their customers. Just a reminder, for all of you who have the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce map and keycard, the discount or free gift offer is valid until Nov. 1.
