Letter: Remember Kaitlyn Through Happiness, Not Sadness

Friday, 21 May 2010 00:00

I’ve been following the story of Kaitlyn Krokowski and feel it’s time to address it. I’m a psychic medium and perhaps with my input, it will help the family and friends of Kaitlyn to understand the point of view from a metaphysical side.

Letter: Commending County Legislator Belesi

Friday, 14 May 2010 00:00

I would like to commend Legislator Joseph Belesi and his staff for the recent letter updating the voters on the current activities occurring in his office. I think this is starting a new trend in politics. He remembers the voters after he is elected. He does not forget us after he is elected.

Letter; Recommending Options for Friends, Family to Grieve

Friday, 14 May 2010 00:00
(This letter is in response to an article in the May 7, 2010 issue of the Observer, entitled “Friends and Family of Kaitlyn Krokowski Fight to Keep Her Memorial.”)

What Every Long Islander Should Know - May 7, 2010

Written by Nancy Rauch Douzinas Friday, 07 May 2010 00:00

Better Education for Less

It’s school budget time, and wrath is in the air. Politicians are raging, taxpayers fuming, students protesting. The frustration is easy to understand. School budget votes in our region are a lose-lose proposition. Vote against the budget, and the ones we hurt are the children. Vote in favor, and we perpetuate the ruinous tax spiral that is devastating families and crippling our economy.

Letter: The Importance of Your Public Library

Friday, 07 May 2010 00:00
One of the most important services any community enjoys is its public library. You wouldn’t think so judging by the actions Governor Paterson and the New York State Assembly have taken on funding libraries and library systems in the State’s 2010-11 state budget plans.  The Governor has recommended that state aid to library systems and their member libraries be reduced by $4.2 million. The Senate has rejected this recommendation, but the Assembly is still debating it.

Letter: Long Islanders Need Tax Relief

Friday, 30 April 2010 00:00
Hardworking, middle class families across New York State are in desperate need of tax relief. Long Islanders are tired of talk and no action out of Albany. That’s why I’m supporting an important new proposal to cap school property taxes.

Letter: Cutting Able-Ride Funding Is Unfair

Friday, 30 April 2010 00:00
The recent decision to cut Able-Ride funding, which will severely impact Nassau residents dependent upon this service, is grossly unfair. Why have the Republicans in our local government turned their backs on those who are least able to help themselves?

Letter: Comptroller: Currently Auditing Nassau’s Special Districts

Friday, 23 April 2010 00:00
(Editor’s Note: This letter is in response to a letter to the editor from the April 9 issue of the Farmingdale Observer, entitled, “Comptroller Should Audit Nassau Special Districts.”)

I am responding to Mr. Jason Dworkin’s letter to the editor of April 9, 2010 entitled “Comptroller Should Audit Nassau Special Districts” and believe that he has misunderstood my policy towards special districts. Mr. Dworkin indicates that I think it is “unnecessary to audit Nassau’s special districts and that this decision is reckless.”

Letter: Support the Farmingdale Fire Department

Friday, 23 April 2010 00:00

We support the Farmingdale Fire Department. Those stickers can be seen all over the town. I support and praise the fact that at a moment’s notice they place their lives at risk to keep us safe and alive. I can give firsthand testimony to that fact. Many other people can as well.
