Helen Lucy Bergmann (née Yedinack), of Farmingdale, died on Dec. 13. Devoted wife of the late George “Bob.” Loving mother of Diane (William), Janice (Lawrence), and Christine Joan Bergmann. Cherished grandmother of Douglas William (Jamie), John Thomas, Carole Ann, and Kathryn Elizabeth. Beloved sister of Joan, and Aunt to Karen, Eric, George, Cindy and the late Andrew. Helen worked for New York Telephone Company, human resources, and in retail. She was active in Girl Scouts, Women’s Club of Farmingdale, St. Thomas Episcopal Church, and the Ecumenical Choir. Helen was an avid crafter, boater, and volunteer. Funeral Service was held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Farmingdale. Internment Pinelawn Memorial Park. Walter Kranz, 93, longtime Bethpage resident passed away on Dec. 14. “Wally” was a quality controller for 38 years at Grumman. He proudly worked on projects such as the Lunar Module, and others. His name is on the existing plaque on the moon. Wally’s hobby was building and flying radio-controlled aircraft. Beloved husband of Evelyn (née Herte). Devoted father of Robert. Predeceased by brothers Harry and Artie. A funeral mass was held on Dec. 18, at St. Martin of Tours RC Church, with interment with military honors following at St. Charles Cemetery. Stephen J. Briggs, 84, died on Dec. 15. A longtime Bethpage resident he was predeceased in 2005 by his beloved wife, Teresa. Loving father of Stephen Jr., Debbie, Terry, and Nancy. Dear father-in-law of Loretta Briggs and Jim Baudille. Proud grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of 12. Formerly of Forest Hills in his youth he excelled in sports, was a member of the Dexters Bombers football team. Later in life, he and his wife became avid golfers and bowlers, as well as loyal fans of the NY Giants football team. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Hartigan Council.
