Lengler, Gizella “Isabell”, 87, of Little River, SC (formerly of North Massapequa) passed away on June 19. Predeceased in April 2012 by her beloved husband, Charles. Loving mother of Linda McGlone, Donna Hallaran and Janet Dagostino. Proud grandmother of nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A funeral mass was held on June 25, at St. Kilian RC Church, with interment following at St. Charles Cemetery, East Farmingdale. Arrangements were entrusted to the Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc.
Dr. Del Ivan Janik, adjunct professor at Farmingdale State College, SUNY, and professor emeritus of English at the State University of New York at Cortland, passed away at Crouse Memorial Hospital, Syracuse, on June 22 after a brief illness.
Dr. Janik was born and raised near Chicago in Berwyn, IL. He earned a BA in English from Northwestern University, an MA in English from the University of Michigan, and a PhD in English from Northwestern University.
Meyer, William P., Jr., of North Massapequa passed away on June 27. Loving husband of the late Joan. Devoted father of William, Mark and Carole Ann. Proud grandfather of eight. Dear brother of Betty Ann, George and the late Joan. Prayer service was held on June 29, at the Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Cremation was private.
Carni, Pat “Patsy”, 92, of Bethpage passed away June 24. WWII U.S. Army veteran, former owner of Pat’s Shoe Service, Lynbrook. Beloved husband of 62 years to Rose. Loving father of Joann Favorito (Joseph) and Joseph Carni (Susan). Proud grandfather of four. A funeral mass was held on June 27, at St. Martin of Tours RC Church, with entombment following at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Arrangements were entrusted to the Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc.
Pieri, Stanley, of Palm Beach, FL, died on July 6. Devoted father of George, Stanley and Athena. Also survived by many other loving family members and friends. Funeral mass was held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Hicksville. Interment at Long Island National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home Inc.
DeMarco, Mildred, 100, died June 28 at a hospice near her home in Calabash, NC. Born in Manhattan, DeMarco was a 1934 graduate of New York University with a degree in foreign languages. In 1937, she moved to Farmingdale, where she worked at Seversky Aircraft Co. at Republic Airport translating foreign letters. Later she managed the office of her husband, architect Joseph DeMarco, who died in 1977 after 40 years of marriage. She also was a substitute teacher.
