Margaret C. Baerst (nee Coughlan), age 93, formerly of Farmingdale, died on Aug. 7 in Albuquerque, NM. Peggy, as she was known, met Frank Baerst at the Young People’s Club of St. Kilian’s Parish and later married there. In 1964, they relocated to White Sands, NM, with the Grumman Aircraft LEM Project.
Teresa Granberg, 82, of Bethpage, passed away July 28, 2009. Wife of 61 years to Francis. Mother of Alfred (Mary Ellen), Patricia Hayes (late Stephen) and William (Lourdes). Grandmother of Allison, Dean, Steven, Michele, Halsey and Christian. Sister of Violet DelGaudio (late Daniel) and predeceased by brothers, Julio Alvarez (Dorothy) and Manuel Alvarez. Aunt of 10 nieces and nephews. An avid bowler, Teresa enjoyed crocheting blankets which she gave as gifts and donations to charities. Arrangements were made by Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held July 31, 2009 at St. Martin of Tours RC Church with interment following at the United Methodist Church of Bethpage Cemetery. Catherine V. Alopari, of Farmingdale, passed away July 24, 2009. Wife of the late Salvatore. Mother of Jerry and the late Joann. Also survived by her niece Susan Gugliano; sister Lee Barber; sister-in-law Josephine and grandson Benjamin. Arrangements were made by Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held July 30, 2009 at Our lady of Lourdes RC Church with interment following at St. John’s Cemetery.
Thomas Hubbard, of Frederick, MD, died on July 20, 2009 after a short illness. He was a native of Farmingdale and graduated from Friends Academy in 1963. He served in Vietnam from 1967-68. He was trained as an Army specialist in cryptography. Later he earned his degree at Towson University, MD. He worked over 20 years for London Fog as a computer specialist and most recently in the healthcare provider industry. He is survived by his wife Julia; his children, Graham (Maryland) and Jennifer Hubbard (Vermont); and grandchildren, Ian and Tyler (Maryland). Son of Jean and the late Andre Hubbard. Brother of Alan (New Jersey), David (New York) and Nathaniel (New York). Memorial service to be held at Bethpage Friends Meeting House, Farmingdale, at 3 p.m. on Aug. 15.
