Alice Tracy Attride, 100 years of age, passed away Aug. 29, 2014. Predeceased in 1999 by her beloved husband., Roy Ronald Buxton Attride. She is survived by her children William “Bill” Attride, Robert Attride and Charlotte McCullough. Theodore G. Cisek, 89, of Bethpage passed away Sept. 7, 2014. Loving husband of the late Marion (dec. 2000). Devoted father of Lisa Dunseitch, Drew Cisek and Barbara Mejia. Frederick Layne Zamparelle, (b. Aug. 27, 1948), passed away in the early morning of Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014 from complications due to leukemia and extensive chemotherapy treatment. A second generation “road builder”, Fred rose from the rank of laborer to Superintendent of Public Works, to Senior Highway Inspector. A lifelong Farmingdale resident, Mr. Zamparelle graduated from Nassau Community College in Garden City. Over a span of more than 37 years, he worked with many major contracting firms building roads and bridges throughout Long Island. In 2004 he retired from Road & Heavy Construction Union #1298 and became the Village of Farmingdale Superintendent of Public Works. While there he instituted a major clean-up and modernization of the water system, including the installation of an automated radio-read water meter, while simultaneously overseeing a multi-million dollar road project, the upgrade of two Village parks and many improvements of the Public Works facilities,. In 2008 he joined the firm LiRo Engineering as a Senior Highway Inspector where he worked on many Federal, State and Local projects. He was past vice president of Farmingdale Baseball League and a former coach of P.A.L. Basketball. An avid golfer who also enjoyed spending time in his garden, mentoring young engineering students and traveling. He is survived by two sons, Frederick Charles and Timothy Layne from his marriage to Laurie, Visitation was held Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc. A Prayer Service was held at the funeral home Wednesday morning followed by private cremation. Donations in Fred’s memory may be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma. Association.
James F. Ross, 83, of Melville, passed away Aug. 24, 2014. Beloved husband of Theresa (nee Henning). Devoted father of Kathleen Kleinman (Lawrence), Kevin, Carol Cross (Marc Fogel), Marianne McCarthy, Brian (Fran), Jamie Wahab (Khali), and the late Christopher. Brian Mills, 43, passed away on July 5, 2014, several days after a tragic fall at his brother’s home in Carmel, N.Y. Born in Bethpage and raised in Farmingdale by his parents, Michael and Anna, at the time of his death he was living in South Farmingdale with his wife Susan and daughter Zoe Anna. He was employed as a plumber with Dolan Plumbing, Massapequa, NY. He is also survived by his siblings, Patricia Muhs, Margaret, Thomas, Anthony, Daniel, Christopher and Stephanie. His older brother, Michael, predeceased him. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Irene Romeike. A Funeral Mass was held July 9, at St. Kilian RC Church, followed by interment at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Arrangements were entrusted to the Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc.
