Farmingdale's 2013 Valedictorian

Nakul Gupta has been named Valedictorian of Farmingdale High School’s Class of 2013. Gupta earned a cumulative 105.074 Grade Point Average (GPA), the highest of all his classmates.

“Nakul is extremely self-motivated,” said Farmingdale High School Principal Glen Zakian. “His success is the result of hard work, determination and his ability to work effectively with others.”

Gupta enrolled in several Advanced Placement courses in a variety of subjects, but specifically focused on math and science. In 2012, he conducted extensive research at Stony Brook University and was named as a Simons Fellow Scholar. The Simons Fellowship Program enables students to work with university faculty mentors to learn more about laboratory tools and techniques.

Gupta also reached the national semi-finalist standing in the 2013 Intel Science Talent Search Competition, where thousands of high school seniors across the country conducted original research projects and presented their work to the country’s most prestigious and well-known science and technology industry experts.

In addition to achieving a high level of academic success, Gupta participated in various clubs and organizations at Farmingdale High School. He was a member of the Science Bowl team for four years and was also named captain of both the Boys’ Varsity Tennis and Mathletes teams. He also participated in the Chamber Orchestra and was co-president of Service Club.

Gupta plans to continue his educational career at Harvard University in the fall.
