Georgiana Sena has announced her official candidacy for Mayor of Farmingdale Village. As a Farmingdale resident and homeowner, she has been deeply involved with civic, charitable and political organizations for over 20 years working to improve her community.
The following was submitted by Georgiana Sena:
“Running on a platform of restoring pride, respect and integrity to Village government, Georgiana Sena has the strength, the intellect and the compassion to develop solutions for the many concerns of her fellow residents. She is the ‘business-friendly’ candidate who will work to find solutions to the serious problems that currently plague Farmingdale’s business community. Despite prior campaign promises, the current administration has simply watched as the number of vacant downtown storefronts rose to 25 percent.
“Her platform includes putting an end to the current administration’s excessive ticketing of cars parked along Main Street, which sends people to other communities to shop and dine. She also favors appointing an independent ethics board to make sure citizens’ concerns are placed above political patronage and advocates forming a fiscal responsibility committee to eliminate unnecessary costs and reduce bloated budgets.
“Georgiana Sena’s two running mates for the office of trustee are also respected members of the Farmingdale community. Michael Manchin is a highly decorated retired Nassau County police supervisor and U.S. Army veteran with experience in business and banking. He volunteers his time to support Veterans Affairs and Kiwanis. Susan Miles is a third generation village resident with over twenty years of international business expertise. Two of her children attend Farmingdale Middle School and she volunteers with Kiwanis and the Police Athletic League (PAL).
“Georgiana Sena’s Pledge to the Village of Farmingdale residents includes:
- Developing business-friendly environment to encourage growth
- Implementing sound financial management to eliminate extravagant waste of tax dollars
- Working to protect and improve quality of life issues within the Village
- Bringing integrity and honesty to Village government
- Supporting our local volunteer fire department
- Implementing fair and balanced Municipal Code enforcement policies
- Protecting our Main Street merchants and customers from over-zealous ticketing
“Sena is a homeowner and resident of Farmingdale with over 25 years experience in law and management services and she is well known for her work with local charities, including the Kiwanis Club of Farmingdale and Long Island Cares, and her dedication to improving the lives of her community. She is the recipient of the prestigious Anton J. Kaiser Fellowship Award, the Brittany Pediatric Lyme Disease Award and the Pediatric Trauma Center Foundation Award. Sena is the editor of Eye on the Village, a Farmingdale watchdog publication.
“Sena welcomes your support. All correspondence and contributions should be sent to Village Independent Party, P.O. Box 1185, Farmingdale, NY 11735. For more information, visit www.georgianasena.net.”
The Village mayoral election will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
