Local little league teams play in honor of lives lost in the tragedies of 9/11

On Saturday, Aug. 13 the Farmingdale Baseball League concluded their first annual baseball tournament at Allen Park in Farmingdale in a memorial tribute to those who lost their lives in the tragedies of 9/11. This year’s tournament was especially noted for the milestone anniversary approaching. Local elected officials threw out first pitches during each game in the tournament.

Daniel Rodriguez, Chuck Isleman and Brian Enoch each sang the National Anthem for the start of some of the final games, while the Marines performed honor guard.

The Long Island Ducks Quackerjack and the Islanders Ice Show made special guest appearances. Each of the teams had the chance to participate in special skills competitions like wiffle ball and homerun derby games.

Players from Long Beach took first place in the tournament, while Levittown players took second place. Each of the top place teams were rewarded with a special commemorative trophy that honors the lives of those lost in the tragedies of 9/11.
