The Lady Dalers faced Massapequa at Hofstra on Wednesday, June 1 for the Nassau County Class A Championship. The Lady Dalers pulled out to a 6-0 lead before Massapequa Chiefs would score and a 9-3 halftime lead.
The Chiefs would get close in the second half 10-7, but the Lady Dalers offense would get back on track and score seven more times to give the Lady Dalers a 17-10 win and sixth consecutive county title.
Jamie Leone had five goals and three assists, Kimberly Kolodny has three goals, Kyra Ochwat had two goals and two assists, Colleen Reynolds had two goals, Kelly McPartland had two goals and two assists, Nadine Hadnagy had one goal, and Krislyn Engleke and Courtney McPartland each had one assist. Goalie Alexandra Gurecki had seven saves.
In the Long Island Class A Championship game on Saturday, June 4, the two-time defending state champs the Lady Dalers would take on the Northport Tigers. The Lady Dalers defeated the Tigers three times in the past to get to the state tournament.
The Lady Dalers would fall behind 1-0, but Kolodny would tie it up. In a battle, the Lady Dalers would go into halftime down 6-4.
In the second half Northport would come out on fire. They would not let the Lady Dalers play their game, and forced them into making errors on the field. Northport would win the game 14-7 and stop the Lady Dalers from reaching the state tournament.
Engleke and Hadnagy each had two goals, Kolodny had two goals and one assist, Reynolds had one goal, Ochwat had two assists, McPartland had one assist. Goalie Gurecki had 12 saves. The Farmingdale Dalers Boys Lacrosse team had a great week. First, they played the Massapequa Chiefs on Tuesday, May 31 at Hofstra for the Nassau County Class A Championship.
During the season, the Dalers fell to the Chiefs in a close 10-9 overtime loss. They knew this would be another tough game. The Dalers fell behind 5-4 after the first quarter, and 9-7 at halftime.
After the third, the Dalers were behind by one goal 11-10, but the offence would come up big, scoring five goals in the fourth. Greg Catalano would score with 2:27 left in the game to give the Dalers a 14-13 lead and a Nassau County Class A Championship.
Brian Prendergast would be the game’s MVP in the Dalers 15-13 win over the Chiefs. Korey Hendrickson had four goals and one assist, Prendergast had four goals and three assists, Sal Tuttle had three goals and two assists, Pat Starke had two goals and one assist, Greg Catalano had two goals and Mike Perettine had one goal. Goalie Mike Palmer had seven saves.
On Saturday, June 4 the Dalers went to Stony Brook’s LaValle Stadium for the Long Island Class A Championship game against West Islip and their 40-game winning streak.
The Dalers lost to them last year, and knew they had another tough game. The Dalers fell behind 2-1 after the first quarter, but scored first. The game was tied 5-5 at halftime and 7-7 after the third.
In the fourth the Dalers fell behind 9-7 and now West Islip would try to slow things down. Tuttle would score with 1:11 left in the game to tie it 9-9 and force the game into sudden death overtime. And at 2:26 into overtime Perettine would score to give the Dalers the Long Island Class A Championship.
Tuttle had three goals and one assist, Hendrickson and Prendergast had two goals each, Starke had one goal and one assist, Perettine and Catalano each had one goal. Goalie Palmer had seven saves.
The Dalers were scheduled to play Shenendehowa High School on Wednesday, June 8 in White Plains for the New York State Class A semifinals.
