On Dec. 11, join News 12 Sports anchor Jamie Stuart as he hosts a very special reception to say “thank you” to the volunteers and directors of the Children’s Sports Connection, which has fulfilled the dreams of so many children through the years. The event will be held at Carlyle on the Green in Farmingdale from 6:00 p.m.- 8:30 p.m., and will feature a holiday dinner, music with special performances by Sal Manzo and a youth choir, raffles and a silent auction. On Wednesday, Dec. 11, the Concerned Citizens Association of Farmingdale will have a special presentation from Inspector John Berry and POP Officer Paul Lamonica with the Nassau County Police Department’s second precinct to discuss crime in the community. Some topics will include burglaries, property damage, possible gang activity, DWI and DUI accidents, drug-related activities, and crimes against seniors. A representative from YES Community Counseling Center will also be attending to increase awareness of some issues surrounding several Long Island communities.
The event begins at 7:30 p.m. at Allen Park. Refreshments will also be available at the meeting.
The Village of Farmingdale Zoning Board will hold its next meeting on Dec. 12, at 8 p.m.
On Dec. 13, join the students of Howitt Middle School’s Orchestra for a performance at 7:00 p.m.
On Dec. 16, join the students of Northside Elementary School for a special holiday performance at 7:00 p.m.
On Dec. 17, join Farmingdale high school students in the symphonic band, string orchestra, and the symphony orchestra for a special performance in the school auditorium at 7:00 p.m.
On Dec. 19, the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce will be holding its next after hours event at CaraCara Mexican Grill at 354 Main St. in Farmingdale. The event runs from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. and includes a free raffle, complimentary appitizers, and happy hour pricing until 7 p.m.
On Dec. 22, the Farmingdale United Methodist Church, located at 407 Main Street, will have a special Christmas Cantata during their 9:30 a.m. services.
On Dec. 24, the Farmingdale United Methodist Church will hold is traditional service at 3:00 p.m., featuring carols and communion. Family candlelight service with carols will be held at 7:00 p.m. and a traditional candlelight service with carols at 10:30 p.m.
On Dec. 28, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., the American Legion Post 449 in Farmingdale will sponsor a flap-jack breakfast at the Airport Plaza Applebee’s. The event is being held to benefit the son of one of the Legion’s members, Alex, a former Farmingdale EMS, and recovering cancer survivor. Tickets cost $13.
