Senior guard Nikita Green (Roosevelt) led all scorers with 20 points and added seven steals and seven assists as Farmingdale State earned a 61-40 victory at Mount Saint Vincent on Feb. 2.
Tied 17-17 with 7:56 remaining in the first, the Rams (9-9, 7-3) closed out the half on a 10-2 run capped off by a Green 3-pointer with three seconds left to take a 27-19 lead into the break.
The Dolphins (6-15, 0-11) quickly cut the deficit to six after halftime, but Farmingdale State answered with nine straight points to extend the lead to 15, 41-26, with 15:03 left to play.
The Rams opened up their largest lead of the game, 55-33, with 8:03 remaining after back-to-back 3s by Green and sophomore guard Nicole Lanteri (Poughkeepsie).
Mount Saint Vincent scored only seven points the rest of the way as Farmingdale State earned a 61-40 Skyline victory.
Sophomore guard Christina Merrill (Levittown) scored 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including 3-for-5 from 3-point range, while freshman guard Janiece Jenkins (Central Islip) had a team-high 10 boards for the Rams.
The Dolphins were led by sophomore center Kelly Fraser (Staten Island) who recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The Women’s Club of Farmingdale had their last meeting of the club year on June 6 at Allen Park. The club celebrated with an “All American Picnic” arranged by Barbara Hoerner and her committee, Ann Lomonte, Lynn Connolly, Joan Vallarella, Valarie Thieke, Cheryl Parisi, Rosemary Trudden, Ingrid Hernandez and Loda Romanelli. The picnic was catered with delicious desserts made by the committee.

After faithfully serving the Farmingdale school district for 13 years as a member of the Board of Education, Trustee Tina Diamond is calling it a day.
At the recent public meeting on June 5, Board President Shari Bardash-Eivers gave a heartfelt farewell speech in honor of Diamond’s years of tireless service to the students of Farmingdale.

The Farmingdale Shamrocks U-14 girls soccer team took first place in Maps Tournament held in New Jersey on Memorial Day weekend. The Shamrocks went undefeated, winning three games and tying one to win their bracket. They only allowed two goals the entire weekend and got scoring from a variety of players. The Shamrocks also took first place in league play this spring in the Eastern New York league.

Councilman Anthony Macagnone attended Farmingdale Soccer Club’s annual Soccer Day at Ellsworth W. Allen Park. Each year at this event, the Farmingdale Soccer Club awards scholarships to participants who have represented the community well by working hard and displaying a commitment to teamwork.
