(Editor's Note: The Mayor's Column will run occasionally as submitted by the village.)
I need your help so we can help others in our village who could use some assistance in these challenging times. The village still has money available in the Residential Rehab Program that is administered by Nassau County and the Federal Government through HUD (Housing and Urban Development). The board of trustees and I have secured grants for a number of residents in our village through this program enabling them to obtain new roofing, siding, windows, heating and hot water equipment for their homes. The income levels have been adjusted to make more people eligible for these grants. The requirements are simple. You must own your home and have income at or below these levels to be eligible.
Single with an income at or below $40,800
2 people with an income at or below $46,560
3 people with an income at or below $52,400
4 people with an income at or below $58,240
Additional size households can be eligible, please inquire at Village Hall.
If you meet these basic requirements, please request an application at Village Hall. We have people on staff who can help you fill out the paper work. All information is kept strictly confidential. Unfortunately, if we do not use the money that has been made available to us from Nassau County in a timely fashion, we will lose this source of funding and have a difficult time reapplying for grants next year.
Please spread the word to your neighbors and friends, especially those who may not have the opportunity to read this column, so that all these grants can be utilized by the residents of our village.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or Elizabeth Kaye, our Deputy Clerk, at Village Hall. Thanks and have a safe and healthy summer.
