The Farmingdale Dalers baseball team defeated Hicksville last Tuesday 10-0 to win their home opener at Farmingdale High School. Chris Vitale pitched six shutout innings with 10 strikeouts and only giving up one hit for the win. Dan Mormino was four-for-four with two RBIs. The Dalers took the series from Hicksville 2-1. In the first game on Monday in Hicksville, the Dalers won 11-7. The Dalers had 5 homeruns in this game by Greg Copolla, Gary Alaimo, Chris Guercio, Christian Guadalupe and Dan Mormino. Chris Capozzoli was the winning pitcher. In the last game of the series on Thursday in Hicksville the Dalers were defeated 8-5.
The Dalers Softball team also had their home opener last Tuesday at the high school and defeated Valley Stream Central 10-0. Kristie Summus had three triples and three RBIs and Stephanie Ringbauer struck out 10 batters and only gave up two hits for the win. Then on Thursday the Dalers defeated Calhoun 11-0. Katie Zabielski went four-for-five and Kristie Summus went three-for-four. Stephanie Ringbauer again was the winning pitcher, this time striking out 16 batters. And on Saturday the Dalers defeated Hicksville 11-10 in eight innings. Kelly Murphy drove in Kristie Summus for the win. Stephanie Ringbauer again was the winning pitcher.
