On Jan. 23 the Farmingdale School District met during a kick-off meeting to discuss the installation of a new turf athletic field for the school district. The project, which is being paid for entirely by funding secured by Senator Hannon, is projected to begin this spring.
"The Farmingdale School District would again like to thank Senator Hannon for his tremendous support and commitment to this project," said School Board President Shari Bardash-Eivers. "Thanks to his efforts in securing the necessary funding, we will be able to upgrade our athletic field without any cost to the district."
To accommodate the installation of the new field, the district will be rescheduling planned sporting events at the 11th Avenue field and the stadium field for the months of April through July. The athletic department is already coordinating the notification process for those organizations and programs that will be affected.
The district has entered into contract with the New York State Industry for the Disabled to permit LandTek to perform the work. An additional AIA contract will be presented to the Board of Education at the March 4 regular board meeting.
