Happy New Year from the Women's Club of Farmingdale. Now that the hustle and bustle of the holidays are over it's back to work. The first meeting of the new year was held on Thursday, Jan. 8 at Allen Park. The meeting opened with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Helen Ghiorsi. President Barbara Hoerner welcomed members and a guest. Maria Ortolani proceeded to read the minutes of the previous meeting, treasurer report was given by Ann Lomonte and correspondence was read by Catherine Bongiorno. Ways and Means chairperson Veronica Jones announced plans for dinner-fashion show to be held on Thursday, March 26 at Manor East in Massapequa. Fashions are by Annie Sez of Plainview. Members of Women's Club have been donating hats, gloves and scarves for men, women and children to be given to Outreach to help those in need in Farmingdale. Religious articles are also being donated by members and sent to Randall Rosaries, an organization in Cherryville, NC.
The program for today was Donna Sherrer, president of the New York State Chapter of the General Federation of Women's Club. Ms. Sherrer spoke of the many worthwhile projects the General Federation is involved in, such as education, health issues, domestic violence, etc. It was an enlightening program.
A delicious luncheon was prepared by Dolores McAfee and her committee Ellen Acinapuro, Helen Norjen, Marge Pfoh, Jean Adams and Anna Ievolo. A beautiful cake was made and decorated by Marge Pfoe.
