The Eighth Squad of the Nassau County Police Department recently reported the details of a fatal car accident that occurred on Jan. 19 at 11:43 p.m., in Farmingdale.

At that time, according to detectives, the driver of a 1999 Dodge Durango, traveling northbound on Main Street, at Grand Avenue, lost control of the vehicle in slippery road conditions and struck a utility (LIPA) pole at the location. Police continued that the driver and sole occupant, Kaitlyn Krokowski, 19, of Farmingdale, was transported to New Island Hospital via Farmingdale Fire Department ambulance, where she was pronounced at 11:58 p.m. She was a 2007 graduate of Farmingdale High School.

The vehicle was impounded from the accident scene for safety tests.
