George Weathers, a loving son and brother, a devoted uncle, and a loyal friend to many, died on Sept. 5, 2008 after a brief illness. George was born on June 15, 1942 to Alva Terry Weathers and Eleonore Meylan Weathers in Ithaca, NY. He was well known in Farmingdale, where he lived for nearly 60 years. He had a kind word for everyone he met and the citizens of Farmingdale repaid him with their great affection. George was a life-long member of the Farmingdale United Methodist Church, where he was a stalwart in the choir. He was also a longtime member of the Farmingdale Volunteer Fire Department. A fine bowler, George loved many sports and was a Yankees fan through and through. George will be missed by the many people who benefited from his generosity, and he will be remembered with love by his stepmother Elsie Weathers, his brothers Terry, Bob and Ed, his sister Joyce, and his nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home 2-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. on Sept. 12. Funeral services will be at Farmingdale United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. on Sept. 13, followed by burial at Pinelawn Memorial Park. The family asks that, in lieu of sending flowers, those who remember George fondly make a donation to the American Diabetes Association.
