This is the 58th summer of supervised recreational and instructional programs for the children enrolled in the Farmingdale School District. For more information call 694-0916. Supervised recreational programs for children entering grades 1-7 as of September 2008. Activities include: organized games, recreational activities, arts and crafts, trips, special events, and more. Meets Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from Monday, June 30 to Friday, Aug. 1 at Albany Avenue Saltzman East Memorial or Northside Woodward Parkway. Registration is at the center you plan to attend on Friday, June 27 from 2 to 7 p.m. Fee: $25. Grades 1-3 as of September 2008 at the Howitt Pool. One-hour classes include instruction and free swim, beginning Monday, June 30. Registration is at Howitt School West Gym, Friday, June 27 from 2 to 7 p.m. Grades 4-9 as of September 2008 at the Farmingdale High School Pool beginning Monday, June 30. Registration is at Farmingdale High School Pool, June 27 from 2 to 7 p.m. Classes organized by ability. Session dates and times available at registration. . Fee: $20 per child/per session. Supervised swimming, for children entering grades 4-12 as of September 2008 at the Farmingdale High School Pool. Monday-Friday, from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday, June 30 to Thursday, July 31. Registration is at the first session June 30. Fee: $20 per child.

Swim instruction for children ages 1 to 5 at the Howitt Pool. Children must be accompanied by parent, who will be required to go into the pool. One-hour classes to include group and individual instruction for a one-week session. Classes meet daily from noon to 1 p.m. as per registration. Session dates available at registration. Registration is at Howitt School West Gym, Friday, June 27 from 2 to 7 p.m. Fee: $20 per child/per session.

Note: The Howitt Pool may be closed due to inclement weather and/or other factors beyond the Summer Program's control.

Designed for boys and girls entering grades 5-12 as of September 2008.

Theater games, characterization, improvisation, dramatics, vocals and the technical aspects of the theater. Meets Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning Monday, June 30. The Junior Program (grades 5-7) is scheduled to meet in the Saltzman Elementary School Auditorium. The Senior Program (Grades 8-12) is scheduled to meet in the high school auditorium. Information regarding these programs will be available at registration. Registration is at the Summer Program Office at Farmingdale High School, Friday, June 27 from 2 to 7 p.m. Fee: $20 per child, plus a separate $100 partial self-sustaining fee per child is required.

For children entering grades 4-12 as of September 2008. Meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Howitt School. Class times available at registration. Registration is at Howitt School West Gym, Friday, June 27 from 2 to 7 p.m. Fee: $20 per child. For boys and girls entering grades 3-12 as of September 2008 held at the Farmingdale High School courts. Instruction for beginners and intermediates. Classes meet for one hour from 5 to 8 p.m. Session dates available at registration. Registration is at the Summer Program Office at Farmingdale High School Friday, June 27 from 2 to 7 p.m. Fee: $20 per child. Daily transportation is provided by the Farmingdale Youth Council to this Town of Oyster Bay sponsored program of social-therapeutic recreation for handicapped children. Pre-registration required, by contacting the T.O.B. Department of Community Services at 797-7900. These programs are provided through the Farmingdale Youth Council Summer Program, and require a fee that includes medical insurance. Registration for all self-sustaining programs is limited and based on a first come, first served basis. Self-sustaining programs may be canceled due to insufficient registration. Programs include: Pre-Kindergarten: (Children entering Kindergarten in September 2008) Computer Clinic (Grades 3-7 as of September 2008). Summer Music Program: Registration forms for these programs may be obtained at all of the Farmingdale schools, the Farmingdale Public Library, or by calling 694-0916. Registration for summer pre-K program is by mail only.
