The Farmingdale PAL 7th/8th grade boys' tournament basketball team improved to 3-0 and advanced to the championship game of the 2008 Nassau County PAL March Madness Tournament.
Farmingdale opened the tournament with a big win over a very young Hicksville team. Solid all around games from Shane Mclune, PJ Spadalik, Nick Panza, Tom Zehentner and John Srica led the way to the opening round win.
Game 2 of the tournament saw the Farmingdale Team raise their play to another level as they faced off against tournament favorite Roosevelt. After a 14-14 first quarter, Roosevelt jumped to a 16-point lead in the second quarter. Halfway thru the second quarter Farmingdale's big three Jonathan Sindicic, Andrew Ocasio and Travis Wahl returned to the game and quickly tied things up. In the third quarter Jonathan took control of the game scoring 12 of his team high 32 points and Aaron Powell sealed the victory with some clutch free throw shooting in the games final minutes. Final score: Farmingdale 58, Roosevelt 53.
Farmingdale then faced off versus a very tough Wantagh/Seaford team in game 3. Farmingdale came out flying and opened a quick 8-0 score, led by Andrew Ocasio (22 points), Travis Wahl (12 points) and a great all around game by Frankie Lettieri. Final score: Farmingdale 50, Wantagh/Seaford 38.
