Obituaries
Dominick Militello, 80, of Farmingdale, died on March 2, 2008. Uncle of Sal (Mary Lou), Sandra Podpirka (Richard) and Joseph (Adrienne). Brother of the late Joseph. Brother-in-law of Loretta Militello. Great-uncle of Marisa, Stephanie, Paul, Nicole, Richard and Julianna. Arrangements were made by the Oyster Bay Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at St. Dominic's RC Chapel. Interment St. Charles Cemetery.

Michael Solenick, 85, of North Massapequa, died on March 2, 2008. Funeral services were held at the Arthur White Funeral Home in Farmingdale on March 5 and burial was at Calverton National Cemetery on March 6.

Mike was a longtime resident of North Massapequa, having moved with his family to Viceroy in 1963. He graduated from Pratt Institute in 1943 with a degree in mechanical engineering and immediately entered the Navy. He served as a diesel instructor and translator for the lend-lease program and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. After the war he worked exclusively in the defense industry at the Naval Training Device Center in Sands Point and then for a number of defense related companies. He joined the Grumman Corporation in 1962 and was fortunate to work on a number of their key projects during the busy 1960s, 70s and 80s. Most notably, he was key team member in the lunar excursion module program which landed a man on the moon for the first time in August, 1969. Later he contributed to the Grumman efforts on the F-14 Tomcat fighter jet, and the E2C Hawkeye radar aircraft.

He retired in 1988 after 25 years with Grumman and spent his time doing what he liked best, fishing on his boat with family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Norma in 2006 and is survived by his daughter Barbara, his son Paul, and his daughter-in-law Karen, all of whom graduated from Farmingdale High School.

Rosemary Giusto, of Farmingdale, passed away on March 5, 2008. Wife of Raymond Sr. Mother and mother-in-law of Karen and Robert Schultheis, Raymond Jr. and Lynda, and Rick and Sherrie. Grandmother of Raymond III, Ali, Joey, Chris, Doug, Greg and Jenna. Arrangements were made by McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, Massapequa. Interment St. Charles Cemetery. Mabel P. Greenidge, of Farmingdale, passed away on March 6, 2008. Wife of the late Arthur. Aunt of Howard and Julie Pederson. Also survived by many other family members and friends. Arrangements were made by McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home. Religious service was held in the funeral home. Interment Pinelawn Memorial Park. Jessica S. Coleman, 91, passed away February 22, 2008. Predeceased in 2001 by her husband, Emory. Mother of Dennis, Thomas, Donna Reddish and Patricia Jarvis. Sister of Fred Kedzierski, Julius Kedzierski, Mary Belohlazek and Jean Dorniak. Grandmother of nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Arthur F. White Funeral Home. A graveside service and interment took place February 29 at St. Charles Cemetery. Barbara W. Melore, LCSW, DCSW, of Farmingdale, passed away February 28, 2008. Wife of Daniel. Mother of Daniel Jr., Julia, Stephen (Ellen), Suzanne (Angie) and Peter (Leigh). Grandmother of Sarah, Matthew, Schuyler, Hayley, Kevin, Kaitlyn, Justin and Jack. Sister of Carol Agoglia, Robert, Richard, John and Bruce Wheeler. Arrangements were made by Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held March 3 at St. James RC Church, Seaford with interment following at St. Charles Cemetery. Timothy F. Lyons, of Bethpage, passed away suddenly at age 59 on February 29, 2008. Husband of Susan. Father of Timothy, Christopher, Sean and Paul. Son of Genevieve and the late Timothy. Brother of Thomas and Terrence. Arrangements were made by Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held March 4 at St. Ignatius RC Church, Hicksville. Cremation was private. Donations in Timothy's name may be sent to Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund (800 K Street, N.W., Suite 1100, Washington, DC 20001). Paula Edmonds, born September 17, 1914, passed away March 1, 2008. Formerly of Farmingdale, she has resided for the past seven years in Wittman, MD. Predeceased in 1989 by her husband, Walter. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Dominick Lichioveri, three grandchildren, Pamela, Craig, Mark, and two great grandchildren, Vienna and Alejandro. Arrangements were made by Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Graveside service and interment took place March 6 at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Madelyn "Mimi" Gallagher, passed away February 24, 2008 at the home of her son, Dr. James Gallagher in Galveston, Texas. Wife of the late James and mother of the late Ellyn Lihani. Also survived by her son, John of Hicksville, sisters, Carelyn Kane, Jerelyn Murphy, nine grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and good friends. She was a forty-year member and past president of Glen Cove/Hicksville/Syosset Mercy League. Arrangements were made by Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held March 6 at St. Martin of Tours RC Church with interment following at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood.
