On Saturday I had the pleasure of attending the ribbon cutting for the newest store in the village, Zoom Wireless. Located in Fulton Street Plaza, the new Verizon store is a first of its kind on Long Island. The store is a full service Verizon communications location. It handles wireless, voice and FIOS. I want to thank store Manager Richa Sahni and CEO Victor Singh for their wonderful hospitality. Mr. Singh owns 60 other stores in Nassau and Suffolk County. He pointed out that site selection is a very complicated and extensive process that Verizon performs. The location in the village and specifically in Fulton Street Plaza was made because of the demographics and community traits. It was no coincidence that Farmingdale was chosen to be the first location on Long Island to have a new complete full service Verizon store. When they looked at options, the revitalized shopping center and the many positive changes in our village were factors. I am extremely proud to be able to say that our village can attract attention from national companies such as Verizon. When we started the process of renovating the shopping center this is exactly what we had in mind. My administration worked closely with the owners, businesses and developers to carefully expand and improve the area while keeping with the aesthetic values of our community. The fruits of our labor are now keenly evident. Obviously it's not only national companies that see the advantage of our village. The owners of Croxley Ales did extensive research before selecting our Main Street for their new location. They too, are very excited about becoming part of our wonderful community. They are excited about the changes in our downtown and we certainly look forward to having them. My administration is working very hard to also revitalize the area across from Fulton Street Plaza. We hope to have some exciting plans to announce in the near future. With the new Revitalization Committee under way I am very confident that we will be seeing more top notch businesses coming to our village.
