The Farmingdale Dalers (10- 0) took on the William Floyd Colonials (10-0) last Saturday at Stony Brook's LaValle Stadium for the Long Island Class I Championship. The Colonials won the title the past two years and won 32 consecutive games, the Dalers knew they had to play their best to beat Floyd.

In the first drive for the Dalers, they could not move the ball, so they punted on fourth down. The ball hit a Floyd player and was recovered by #24 Anthony Ostrander of the Dalers, so they got to continue their drive. But, three plays later they had to punt again.

Now Floyd started a drive from their own 44. Three plays later a 33-yard touchdown pass and Floyd was up 7-0. On the Dalers next drive quarterback Steve Probst had a 25-yard run then a play later the Dalers fumbled and Floyd had the ball. Two plays later after a 26 and a 22-yard run Floyd was up 13-0.

The Dalers offense just could not get started or was Floyd's defense just that good. Quarterback Steve Probst completed 5 of 18 for 48 yards and rushed for 42 yards on 12 carries. Runningback Derek Godwin rushed for 31 yards on nine carries. The Dalers had a total of only 112 yards. The Colonials this year scored 404 points in ten games while only giving up 62. At the end of the first quarter it was 27-0 and by halftime it was 42-0. Floyd was showing everyone the powerhouse they are.

But, you have to give the Dalers and the coaching staff credit. Whatever Head Coach Buddy Krumenacker said in the locker room, the Dalers came out ready to play. They did not just give up. They just kept on fighting on the field trying to get something going, but Floyd defeated the Dalers 42-0 to win their third Long Island Class I Championship.
