Another Thanksgiving Day has passed, and I truly hope that you had the opportunity to share and enjoy the day, and all that comes with it, with your family. But even though the day itself has come and gone, I think we can use the feelings from the day to reflect on all that we have to be thankful for, in this community and this country, and to remember those among us who may be in need of some assistance. Farmingdale is an extremely active community, with dozens of service minded organizations doing remarkable things on a continuous basis to keep Farmingdale a great place to live and work. We have two active Rotary chapters, Kiwanis, AARP, Senior Citizens' groups, a tremendously active Chamber of Commerce, very active youth sports groups like Farmingdale Baseball, Farmingdale Hawks, Farmingdale Titans, Farmingdale Soccer, PAL, and the Youth Council, very involved citizens groups like the Farmingdale Summit and CCAF, religious organizations that run outreach programs, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownies and Girl Scouts, a very civic minded volunteer fire department, auxiliary police, and so many other great organizations in Farmingdale that I can't name all of them. I thank them for the terrific work they do, and I encourage you to seek an opportunity to work with one of these organizations. Please remember that there are residents of our town that do need some help. Some can benefit from a friendly conversation and some need more substantial help. Please get involved, I think you will find it fulfilling, a great way to give thanks, and to find out more about our community. You can also assist the organizations with their fund, toy and other drives at this time of year. The holiday spirit always shines bright in Farmingdale; let's keep it lit all year.
