All you had to do was look at the painted faces of the kids to know good things were happening at Woodward Parkway Field Sunday. Young and old, boys and girls, all with smiles as wide as the fields they played on. It was Super Bowl Sunday for Farmingdale's PAL-NFL Flag Football League. League founders Denis Donovan and Ray Webb would like to thank the dozens of volunteers who made the day and season a success, from the PAL officials who offer their unwavering support on to the men who lined the fields every single Sunday morning at the crack of dawn. Specials thanks go to Applebee's, the New York Jets, the New York Dragons, Kozy Shack and the local 7-Eleven for their generous donations and participation. The Browns completed their season with a Super Bowl victory over the Jets. Both teams played an outstanding game with intensity and desire. Coaches Karl and Frank are very grateful to have worked with Amanda, Carrie, Gina, Jaime Lee, Karlee, Lauren, Maggie, Marisa and Michaela and want to thank the girls' families for their support throughout the season. Coaches Tyrone and Larry congratulate the Giants for a great football season. Thank you to all the players and their parents for a fantastic year.

The Ravens played the Giants to a scoreless tie. Both defenses came up big, including the overtime period where Joe "Hollywood" Dwyer and Nick Fiorentino pulled flags and Tyler Moloney picked off a Giants pass to stop a drive. On offense, Sean Moloney, Chris Natale, Nick Carbone, Jack Livingston, Connor Hess and Patrick McCarthy all chipped in with some fine running and passing but couldn't find the end zone.

The Pee Wee Giants wrapped up the season in a defensive battle that went into overtime and ended in a 0-0 tie. Coach Colleen and Tom's Little Giants worked hard and mastered many difficult skills. They played fair and had fun and that made them real winners.

The Browns ended the season on a high note with a win against the Cardinals. Coaches Joe and Sal would like to thank Tyler, Michael, Kevin, Theo, Christian, Nick, Sebastian, Robert, John and Thomas for making it a wonderful season.

The Saints ended with a 23-6 win over the Jets and an incredible 9-1 record. Offensively, Tommy Donovan threw touchdown passes to Brendan Gallagher and Dylan Zubiria. Tommy and Brendan also hooked up for two extra point passes. Kyle Tucker put his stamp on the game with a touchdown run and caught the extra point off a great pass from Louis Case. Eric Rennard also came up with a big catch. Defensively, Sammy Croes scored a safety, Cameron Casiano applied pressure as the rusher, John Allan Feiner and Tommy Donovan made big interceptions, Brendan Gallagher was all over the field pulling flags and PJ Nealon put an exclamation point on the season with a big flag pull on the last play.

Another great year of flag came to an end with the Jets finishing up against the Saints. The team didn't come out on top, but the coaches are very proud of the way the team played throughout the season. Thanks to all the kids for their efforts and enthusiasm and for all the support the parents gave us - (Connor, Sean, Nic, Spencer, Ryan, Vincent, Will, Jesse and the three Anthonys).

The ferocious Jaguars closed their outstanding season with a team party of bowling and pizza at Rosemarie's, where they held their awards ceremony. On Sunday Nick and Matt M. continued their aerial assault, while Michael Simmons, Tommy Weber, Cory and Brandon all had great runs. Ryan, Matt L. and Chris also closed the season and the final game strong.

The Jags won Super Bowl. Congratulations to the fifth grade Jaguars who beat the Giants in the semi's and the Colts in the final to finish off a great season. Jags were led by quarterback V. Rice and some great receiving by DeMartino, Lynch, Feehan and Panariello. Also great two way play by Costa, Natale, Dittmier and Hingerton. Coach Matt and Glen would like to thank the boys for a great season and for giving 120 percent all the time. The Varsity 8 Jets beat the previously undefeated Cardinals 33-19 to win the Super Bowl. Christian Casillo had a 70-yard touchdown run and another long run for a score in the second half. Christian applied constant pressure on the opposing quarterback. Chris Crowder caught a touchdown pass and threw for a two-point conversion. Chris was instrumental on defense in stopping a potent Cardinal offense when he knocked away many long passes. Quarterback Nick Panza threw for four touchdowns and Nick had numerous flag pulls. Jordan Merchan caught an extra point from Nick and got behind the defense on a 50-yard reception. Kyle Garry earned the nickname "sticky fingers" because anything Nick threw close to him was caught including one in the end zone. The defense was led by Jack Persampire who had an interception as well as a touchdown catch and Michael Hofmann stopped the Cards at the 50 yard line preventing a first down. Ross Flanagan's intense blitzing and outstanding catch and runs completed a total team effort by the Jets who finished the season with a four game win streak.
