Election Day is this Tuesday, Nov. 6. I urge all registered voters to go to the poles and vote. Every ballot counts and it is important that you cast vote. This year, in addition to the town and county officials and judges that you will be voting for, is a very important environmental bond. The Town of Oyster Bay Save Environmental Assets (SEA) Fund bonds is a $60 million bond, that if approved by the voters, would be used exclusively for the acquisition, preservation and protection of environmentally sensitive land, as well as the enhancement of park and recreational facilities. $30 million would be allocated for open space and parkland acquisition and $30 million for park improvements. Money from the bond could be used for no other purposes. By passing this bond we will be protecting our drinking water, preserving open space and critical habitat and preventing over development. We will also be providing the necessary funding to further improve and expand our town parks. The cost of the preservation effort to the average household would only be $2.65 per month. The benefits to us are huge for such a small cost. I support Supervisor Venditto and the Town Board in their efforts to continue their quest to preserve open space and maintain our expansive park system. The fruits of the past SEA bonds can be seen throughout the town. Please vote yes on this bond so we can give the Town of Oyster Bay government the funds they need to continue to make our community one of the most desirable places to live, work, play and raise a family. Please vote on Nov. 6.
