The Cardinals beat the Jets 14-6 as teamwork was the name of this game. Corrin Tempesta ran with the ball for two touchdowns. Danielle Tempesta added a two-point conversion. Dayna D'Antonio and Emma Norton played great defense along with Nicole Morris who was all hands to block the Jets passes. Jackie Bauer joined in by intercepting the ball and Kate Pich did her share to connect with the ball on offensive.
Coming off a humbling loss, the Ravens bounced back big time! Paige Devine led the way with three touchdowns, two coming on pass plays from Kate Hess. Paige also scored a defensive touchdown on interception return and recorded a huge sack. Kate also scored a touchdown on an interception return, but the player of the game on defense was Alexis Panariello. Alexis had two interceptions and several big flag pulls. Final score: Ravens 24 Jaguars 6.
With several players unable to attend, five Lady Giants took on the tough Lady Browns. Sara had a big touchdown run, Niamh had a couple of long runs and Danielle made a big interception. Danielle, Jenna, Niamh, Sara and Tina all contributed with big flag pulls. The Lady Giants held their own in the first half, however, were unable to hold off the Lady Browns in the second half.
The Browns' Stephen Pantano and Billy Petersen contributed long touchdown runs in the game against the Saints. Kameron O'Neill, Andre Covington, Steven Klaur and Brian Michael also contributed big offensive plays while Matt Groom, Nick Pierro, Cole Glasford and Luke Morales made important stops on defense.
The Pee Wee Giants faced the Ravens and Giants pulled off a 14-8 win. There was an awesome interception by Kevin DePalma that even made the opponents' fans cheer. Daniel Diaz and Michael Thiem led the defense showing off their fancy flag-pulling skills too many times to count. An apology for an error in last week's report. It was Michael Thiem who made one of last week's touchdowns.
After a slow start, the Ravens finally got things in gear in the second half but couldn't overcome a speedy Giants squad. With Sean Moloney at quarterback and Nick Carbone (touchdown run), Tyler Moloney and Jack Livingston doing the running and catching the Ravens fell short of a last second win. Joe Dwyer, Sebastian Parente, Patrick McCarthy and Chris Natale anchored the Raven defense.
The Jaguars squared off against the Colts. Two more interceptions by Nick Cappellino to stop two key drives by the Colts. Other great defensive contributions by Chris Stauber and Tom Weber, on offense Brandon McGlynn one of the unsung heroes threw one of the two Jaguars touchdowns to Matt McCarthy, the second Jaguar touchdown, a long pass from Chris Stauber to Tom Weber. A real team effort from the Jaguars with Ryan Smith was an extra critical point. Nick Cappellino received with the game ball.
The Jets, and the Coaches Joe, Tony and Anthony, came out to play on Sunday's week 3 against the Cardinals. An aggressive defense allowed no points scored in the first half, with exceptional plays from Connor, Jesse, Spencer, and Nic. The offense, with great executed plays from Sean, Nic, Ryan, Anthony P. and Vincent, ran a variety of run and pass plays. Although the final score was not in the Jets favor, the coach are very proud of the team's efforts.
The Saints beat a very talented Browns team 25-6. The Saints scoring was led by Dylan Zubiria and his extra point catch. Brendan Gallagher caught a long pass from Tom Donovan and ran it for a score. Kyle Tucker made one touchdown and caught a pass from Sam Croes for another score. Defensively, John Allen Feiner, Brendan Gallagher and Tom Donovan came up big with interceptions and Eric Rennard, Cameron Cassiano, PJ Nealon, and Sam Croes played shutdown defense all game.
The Saints used a total team effort to turn back a tough and talented Browns team 25-13 this week. On offense the load was spread around with Ryan Goldberg, Paul DeSimmone, Kyle McGuinness and Kevin McHugh all scoring touchdowns. Chris Moloney pitched in a two-point conversion and a couple cut back of runs that used all the moves in his book. The Saint defense was led by Nick Bhasin, Patrick Quinn and Sean Kildare.
The Jets had a tough loss to a good Cardinals team. Even in a losing effort, the Jets should be commended for their hard work and great attitude. Kevin Gallagher caught two touchdown passes and intercepted the ball once. Quarterback Philip Dorso had three touchdown passes and Matt Orlando never quit on his pass route and caught a touchdownin the end zone. Marco Cotrone, Thomas Maurice, Billy Merola, Ryan Myers, Peter Straehle and Richie LaMothe showed determination and heart throughout the game.
Jaguars pulled out a win against a tough Colts team. After a rough start a total team effort pulled out the win. Standout defense by Joe Costa and Marc Dittmeier. Great touchdowns by Vincent Rice and Jack Feehan. Awesome all around play by Panariello, DeMartino and Hingerton.
The Jaguars and Colts took part in a hard fought game on Sunday. The Jags quickly took the lead on the first play of the game on a double reverse to Mike Tristano and converted on the extra point to Chris McGlynn. The Colts scored on their first series on a touchdown and subsequent extra point to Chris Catalano to tie the game at 7-7. The Colts quickly added two more touchdowns on pass plays to Alec Casillo and converted the extra points to take a 21-7 lead into half time. Both defenses got stingy in the second half and neither team was able to score again. The Jags were led by the strong pass rush of Chris Block and an interception by Jonathan Kuchinskas.
The Saints' Bobby Brown and Anthony Pantano made many huge plays at QB, each throwing long touchdown passes. Brian Best and Nicholas Giovanniello scored multiple touchdowns each on an array of dazzling catches and runs. Joe Napoli and Mark Morales contributed huge catches on offense and Robert Puppa contributed some fine offensive plays and great defense.
The Seahawks beat the Browns 13-7 in overtime. The Seahawks got on board early when Vincent Mavaro hit Brian Mazza over the middle for a catch and score. The Browns tied it up late in the second half. In overtime, Tom Ferrigno hit Paul Cohen with the exciting game winner. Billy Pickett and Kevin Hassett also played well for the Seahawks on both sides of the ball as they improved to 2-1.
The Ravens and the Giants played a very exciting game this week. The Ravens won 28-20. Quarterback Denis D. threw touchdown passes to Jordan and James. Jordan returned the favor and threw a long touchdown pass to Denis. Joe played a great offense as did Greg who ran with the ball. Keep on running! E.J. and T.J. played awesome defense for the entire game. Mike had an outstanding flag pull to save the Jets from scoring another touchdown.
For the Jets versus the Cards, Big Joe Catrone had two huge interceptions and two extra pts, Garrett O'Reilly had three more sacks, Liam Walsh had a big touchdown run and an interception, Angelo Mauro threw several key passes including a touchdown pass, Andrew Phillips had another long first down run, Declan Hickey made a great catch off a deflected ball to set-up a touchdown, Brian McGuinness had two long touchdown runs and Harrison Graf had two touchdowns and two extra points. Final Score: Jets 34, Cards, 26.
The Ravens' Danny Gilmore turned in one great all around performance. Danny scored three touchdowns, had a two-point conversion, one interception, one sack and several flag pulls. Other Ravens notables: Brendan Nocella - four touchdowns passes, Chris Roth - one touchdown pass one touchdown received, PJ Waskiewicz - one touchdown received, and Nico Rivera - one touchdown received and one interception. Giant notables: Matt Ingordo and Ed Fronckwicz each with a touchdown received, Andrew Haas - one sack and Demietius Covington - two sacks in the end zone. Final score: Ravens 39 Giants 16.
