Farmingdale's 9-year-old Hawks hosted Long Beach last Saturday night and moved to 2-0 with a 32-0 win over the Bulldogs.

The Hawks defense forced a punt on the first series of the game as Taj Penn made two tackles during the stand. Farmingdale's offense took the field and center Steven Dentato and linemen Brandon Bustamante, Vincent Fisher, Devin Selitti, Keyshawn Petit, Charlie Tomasetti and Michael Arpaio immediately took control of the line of scrimmage, allowing Devante Penn to run for a 40-yard score.

With the score still 6-0 the offensive line again overmatched the Bulldog's defensive front as Devante Penn went the distance for Farmingdale for the second time in as many possessions. Kyle Mastrelli ran in the extra point to give the Hawks a 13-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Myles Mills scored two touchdowns during the second quarter behind key blocks by Chance Creamer, Kenneth Mott and Ryan Odabasi. Quarterback T.J. Greco scored one of the extra points and Long Beach stopped the other to make the score 26-0.

Dylan Fitzgerald, Patrick Albert, Vincent Calderon and M.J. Valeus played outstanding on the defensive side of the ball as Long Beach was unable to record a first down in the first half.

While the game may have been out of reach as the third quarter started, the Hawks went about their business in a professional manner. Matt Kleinhans ran the ball six times in the second half churning out several first downs to keep Long Beach's offense off the field and limit their ability to come back.

The Hawks defense meanwhile, with contributions from Conor Nelson, Bryn Lanham and Dylan Charleston, not only recorded their second shutout in as many games, they also scored a touchdown of their own when Fitzgerald returned his second interception of the day 35 yards to provide Farmingdale with its final margin of victory, 32-0.

The 9-year-old Hawks passed their biggest test to date, traveling to Hempstead for a Saturday night game and coming home with a 27-0 win to improve to 3-0 for the season.

Hempstead put an early scare into the Hawks, crossing midfield on the first possession of the game. Taj Penn and Keyshawn Petitte led the way as Farmingdale's defense stiffened and caused the Tiger Cubs to turn the ball over on downs. The Hawk offensive line, led by Brandon Bustamante, Vincent Fisher and Steven Dentato, paved the way for a nine-play, 60-yard touchdown drive in which four different running backs carried the ball and ended when Kyle Mastrelli punched it in from two yards out. Myles Mills ran in the PAT to give the Hawks a 7-0 lead mid-way through the first quarter.

Devante Penn ran for 40 of the 50 yards on the Hawks second scoring drive, capping the six play series with a 15-yard touchdown. The extra point was no good and the score stood at 13-0.

Farmingdale's defense, relieved to have a lead, played exceptional after the first Hempstead drive. Devin Selitti and Dylan Fitzgerald led the charge and cornerbacks Patrick Albert and Matt Kleinhans blanketed Hempstead receivers, holding the Tiger Cubs without a completion as they repeatedly tried to hit for big chunks of yardage. Hempstead didn't cross the 50-yard line again until the fourth quarter when Dylan Charleston, Ken Mott and Bryn Lanham made strong contributions stop the Tiger Cubs and secure the Hawks' third shutout in as many games.

Meanwhile, Farmingdale QB T.J. Greco completed both of his attempts on the night. The first was to Mills on a 20-yard route as the Hawks attempt to put another score on the board before halftime ran out of time. His second was to Charlie Tomasetti for an extra point to make the score 20-0. It followed Devante Penn's second touchdown of the game mid-way through the third quarter. Chance Creamer, Michael Arpaio, Vincent Calderon, Conor Nelson and Ryan Odabasi all contributed strong blocking on the drive and throughout the game.

Mills added a fourth quarter touchdown with Greco adding the PAT to give the Hawks their final margin of victory.

This was the first road test in the season of "now it counts" and the 9-year-old boys passed with flying colors. Next week the Hawks will try to remain unbeaten as they travel to Baldwin to face the Bombers.
