Infrastructure improvement projects at the Farmingdale School District, funded through the EXCEL Aid Bond Referendum approved by the community in May, continue on schedule. The board of education reviewed a list of the completed, current and proposed projects at the Sept. 19 board of education meeting. Brick repointing at Farmingdale High School and Howitt Middle School East and West have been completed. The district has also replaced the dehumidification system at the High School and one set of boilers at Howitt Middle School. The replacement of boilers and burners in the Albany Avenue School are expected to be completed within budget and on schedule.
Future projects consist of the replacement of boilers and burners at the high school, Howitt Middle School West, Northside and Saltzman East Memorial elementary schools. In order to be diligent with the execution of these projects, a schedule has been created with the help of the district's architects. As a result of the state's EXCEL Aid and district state aid on capital projects, these improvements are being accomplished with little or no tax burden to the community.
