"These improvements are just a start, providing a more inviting atmosphere for the students to learn," said Paul Defendini, the district's business administrator.
The renovations to the high school will include the replacement of selected hallways, ceilings and lights. Additionally, the district is also refinishing the floor of the girl's gym.
Students at Northside Elementary School will begin the 2007-08 school year with a brand new playground. As part of the repair/replacement program in the Farmingdale School District, the Northside playground has been demolished and will be replaced with a new Playsafe Playground. The installation of this new playground equipment began on Tuesday, Aug. 14. After all the playground equipment is installed, a new safety surface will be added.
The project was funded in part by a Legislative grant from Nassau County Legislator Dave Mejias. The Farmingdale School District would like to thank Legislator Mejias for his generous contribution. The district would also like to thank the building's playground committee, a group that worked extremely hard to make this project a reality.
