For the second week in a row Synergy scored big by beating O'Sheas 29-6. The bats were on fire from all points in the lineup. Richie Dargie, Joe Lutz, Aldo Balducci, Denny Oehl, Tommy Vanasco, Al Devine, Bob Cruickshank, Bobby Hueber, Mike Maier, and Bruce Coonan all had a great night at the plate. Veteran Richie Dargie kept the O'Sheas batters at bay on the mound. In a game that only went into the sixth innings, the Synergy players got up six times.

From Granny's point of view, thank God for the lightning storm as the umpires took it as a sign of mercy and stopped the game shortly after it became an official one. The loss dropped Granny's record to 9-4. O'Sheas would like to give a shout out to Andy Cohen, a long time team member and friend, who recently had surgery. We miss you pal and we want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Granny's would also like to congratulate Robert Kirk and Lenny Balestrieri for their selection to the All-Star game. Honorable mention goes out to Don Carlin, Mitch Maghakian and Bob Myers, a few of Granny O'Sheas other All Stars.

Mers continued to maintain a lead in the National League with an 18-13 victory over Bar-Boy and ran its record to 9-4. Mers 30 hit night, in just seven innings, had Bar-Boy down 18-6 going into their final time at bat in the top of the eighth. The Bar-Boy bats had been relatively quiet most of the game, but even their big push with seven runs crossing the plate in their final at bat failed to close the wide gap. Once again the entire Mers line-up hit well from top to bottom with every Mers player getting at least one hit. Leadoff hitter, Mike Magro, continues his hot hitting going three-for-four. Also hitting three-for-four were Byron Bodin, Bill Sutherland, Tom Fitzpatrick, and Joe Fanning. Rob Schelhorn was three-for-three with two RBIs. Bill Gruener was two-for-two- also with two RBIs and Rick Palmer was two for three with two rbi's. Kevin Brosnan was once again Mers top run producer driving in three RBIs on a two-for-four night which included a huge two-run homerun over the 60 foot right field fence into the wind. Jim Fileccia was also two-for-four. The Mers defense was extremely effective most of the game. Magro was very sharp playing shortstop for the first time this year showing great range and a very strong arm. First baseman Jim Fileccia's strong field play continues to make a statement that he is the best in the league at that position not only fielding his position well, but making extraordinary picks on shortly thrown balls. The Mers battery of pitchers, Joe Fanning, and superior catcher, Tom Vella, kept the Bar boy bats off balance most of the game helping Mers to take a large lead into the final Bar boy at bat. Ed Healy and Tom Fitzpatrick did a great job of handling the second base duties and covered that position very well. The Mers outfield also had a solid performance led by top rookie Jack DeBobis in leftfield and Bill Sutherland in left center.

Barco and Moby Drugs battled neck and neck most of the game until Moby pulled it out 18-17. Barco started out strong, scoring eight runs in the first inning. But Moby answered with four of their own in the first, powered by a Paul Nardone homerun. In the second inning, Mike O'Connell tripled cutting the Moby lead to 11-6. In the fourth, Moby's bats came alive, including a homer by Andy Sullivan, making the score 12 - 11. Down two in the seventh, Moby got a triple by Joe Carbo to tie the game at 15-15 Barco took the lead in the eighth, but Moby bounced back to notch the hard fought win.

In a good old-fashioned slugfest, Moby and Barco battled back and forth before Moby pulled out a come-from-behind 18-17 victory. Barco started out hot scoring eight in the first on RBI hits by Terry McPartland, Kevin Moloney (two), Steve Schwind, Dave Saur and Tony Falcone. Moby responded with 4 in their half and that set the tone for the entire game. Every time Barco scored Moby came right back but unfortunately for Barco Moby outscored them in the last inning 3-2 to pull out the victory. Barco kept the lead early, increasing it to 12-6 on Steve Jacobson (two), Kevin Moloney and Bill White's RBI hits before Moby came back and tied the game at 13 and again at 15 each. Steve Schwind was 4-4 with four RBIs and a HR to lead Barco with help from Kevin Moloney (3-4 4 RBIs & a terrific catch) and Gentleman Tony Falcone (3-3 RBI). Also contributing was Bill White, Dave Saur, Gary Jambor and Bob Diamond (all 2-3). Barco fell to 6-5-1 while Moby improved to 6-6-1.

Built-More Builders lost to Singleton's but managed a few highlights worth mentioning. Marc Fisher was robbed of a homer when his monster blast rolled under the left-center field fence on the 90-foot field. Marc had three hits on the night and so did Tom "T" Ball and Tyrone Clark.

The League's annual fund-raiser is Friday, Aug. 10. Players please bring your raffle tickets.
