In a wild game that only lasted six innings due to time restraints, Barco ended its three-game losing streak with a 20-19 come-from-behind victory over Synergy. Synergy grabbed a four-run lead only to see Barco respond with eight. Clutch RBI hits by Kevin Moloney and Bill White got things going, but the big blow was Dennis Ryan's three-run homerun. The lead didn't last as Synergy bounced back with 10 in the second. Barco answered with two on another RBI hit by Dennis Ryan and Bob Bergsten's two out hit. Synergy put up another two in the third, but Barco pushed across five to make it 16-15 Synergy. Dennis Ryan's two-RBI/two-out triple was the big hit for Barco. Not to be outdone, Synergy scored again with three in the fourth, but on RBI hits by Bob Diamond and Gary Jambor, Barco cut Synergy's lead to 19-17. Synergy didn't score again, but it took two outstanding defensive plays in the sixth, both with the bases full to keep them off the board. Bill White, who grabbed a screaming liner at third base and Dennis Ryan, who snatched a sinking liner in right field, turned in the gems. Although the rumor was he did his sliding act to impress his family/friends who showed up for the game. Down by two going into the last inning, Barco came across with two clutch two out hits; the game tying RBI hit was by Gary Jambor and the winner by Steve Jacobson. It was mentioned that Dennis Ryan was overheard telling his family not to make any other plans on game nights for the rest of the year.
Friday's middle game was a divisional match-up between Singleton's and Moby Drugs in the very tight American League. The game started out with both teams hitting hard and after three innings it was Singleton's holding onto a slim 9-8 lead. After six innings, the score was now 13-12 Mobys and the umpires announced the seventh would be the final inning of play due to time constraints. Big Red unleashed an 11-run barrage and was able to keep the big bats of Moby in check only allowing four runs to earn a hard fought 23-17 victory, for their seventh win of the year. With three hits and three RBIs each were Paul Canallatos, Alan Rapfogel, Tommy Sorrentino, Gary Saccaro, Richie Smindak, Don Gaghan and pitcher Benny Alberto.
The late night game had Built-More Builders playing Granny O'Sheas. Granny O'Sheas came on strong as they scored 13 runs in the first three innings. Jay Donovan helped set the pace for Grannys with an early double and single totaling four RBIs. Walter Hasemann also had a hot bat with two singles and a triple for three runs and two RBIs. Grannys scored in each of the remaining innings for an impressive 33-9 victory over BMB. Some key highlights for Grannys included: Brian The Big Bopper Mulcahy showing his power as he knocked a double off the fence and a homerun over the center field fence going five-for-six with four RBIs and three runs scored. Grannys welcomed back Bob Kirk from the Injured Reserves. He went three-for-five with four RBIs and three runs scored. In addition, Mike Hadnagy (three-for-five, two runs and an RBI) and Dave Aitchson (three-for-six, three RBIs and a run scored) helped round out a great display of hitting for Grannys. The Grannys' outfield was also glad to have Gary Innes back as he patrolled the long shots hit by BMB. O'Sheas record now stands at 8-3 for the year.
Not many highlights to report for Built-More Builders. Bobby Schubert had an impressive home run and Joe Manning belted a long triple as BMB's three-game winning streak came to a screeching halt.
